Ciao !
Autumn is my favourite season .. I love your poem.
All those vibrant colours are so beautiful. Mother Nature s warm embrace.
Also where my father was born , in the Valtellina valley , at the foot of the Alps , red stags start to bellow and call the herds of nomad females.
The air is so crisp and the leaves dance in the wind.
The scent of the earth is strong in the woods .. mushrooms start popping up and chestnuts start to fall.
Autumn is a generous season : harvest time : grapes .. some of Italy's best red wines come from Valtellina.
Inferno : Hell
Paradiso : Paradise
Sassella : Small Stone
Nebbiolo : fog in Italian is nebbia .. this wine grows where there is much fog hence it's name.
Our barn swallows gather and depart suddenly for the Sahara and the bees retreat in their hives.
Swings and wooden benches are collected .. those in stone remain ..
my house that is in the historical centre is made of stone .. it's 60cm walls keeps me cool in Summer and warm in Autumn/ Winter with the fireplace going.

I just paid the bills too - where DOES the time go? (lol) "Swings taken off the porch" is my favorite line of this whole, lovely poem. It hints at sweet summer nights watching stars and listening to crickets - a wonderful way to spend an evening. What a beautiful way to say hello to autumn though - I could picture all the scenes thanks to your perfect descriptions!

Love the images your poem conveys. But being Aussies, we like to go against the trend and we're now going the other way, into spring and then onto a glorious summer.
The rhyme and flow of your poem make this a most enjoyable and easy to picture read.

Every season has its amazing colors. I think winter has the fewest of course. But I always think snow on evergreen trees is so pretty.
Keep writing.

Hi Joan, I love Winter the best...something about the snow...but as I get older after about three good snow storms...I am ready for Spring...I think all the seasons have their own magical colors...thank you sweet girl for a wonderful review...love you...Linda xxoo

I feel the same about snow. After the first few snowfalls I am done with it. You're welcome.

Kind of sad to see the warm weather slipping away. I know fall is beautiful with all the colors, but summer goes so quickly. I enjoyed your great rhyming and the rollicking rhythm. In spite of what follows, autumn is a beautiful season.

Hello L. Raven,
Marvelous piece of poetry transparently depicting Autumn with its beautiful side effects!
Impressive and perfectly matching the theme phraseology.
Smooth, spontaneous, and enchanting flow throughout from the beginning to the end with lovely rhyming scheme.
Picture enhances beauty of the poem.
swings will be taken off the porch
withered flowers will follow too
colors of the season will amaze
as Autumn will start anew
Superb!

I like the story your poem tells of Autumn leaves falling, rose petals resting, bees no longer making a flight, birds leaving to follow the sun and swings being taken off the porch. Why did you decide to not capitalize the first word in stanza three, four and five? Love the picture you chose. How I do long for the rain here in Southern California.

HI Mia, I guess it is the poets chose...and I don't use capitals unless I need to...I know many writers who do the same...I guess it's what's in your words that I judge a poem...thank you for a wonderful review...Love Linda xxoo

I really like the line, "put the flowers to bed," a little play on words. Your rhyme makes the poem flow smoothly, and adds to your poem. The picture compliments your poem. Your poem has great tone. Thanksgiving and the other holidays adds warmth to the cooling temperatures.
