Harry, this story is very intriguing. I don't know if it's true or a write from a vivid imagination. Either way I like it mainly because something similar happen to me. I was about 300 miles away working and on a Wednesday night I heard my dad call me in my dream. The next day I could still feel him. Like your story we had no phone, no way to communicate. Friday came around and I could still feel him... so i took the weekend off and went home. Dad had been in the hospital dying since Wednesday. He smiled when he saw me. This is a good entry for A Strange Summer Night.

Thanks much for the read and your comments. The only part of the story that was not true is that my dad did not pass away until several years later.

Sorry to learn your father passing. A descriptive piece with lovely scenes surrounding you and your wife. These things happen unexpectedly.
"my wife reminded me (that) she liked her marshmallows singed..."
A short story with the climax at the end. Good work.

"A Life Like No Other" was well-written rich in Theme and Imagery.
It read Well and Flowed well with no grammar issues as well.
Adjective Content and Objective Content were both excellent and exceptional while Descriptive Measures aligned perfectly.

Oh my! This fiction story of yours had me from the beginning to the end. Very good! In reality, I do believe that we can be visited by the souls of our love ones when they pass on.

Wow - and that's not the first time I've heard of something like this happening -- he stopped in to say goodbye on his journey home. A great write, especially for this contest! Be sure to go in and fix 'quickly feel asleep'.... good luck! :)

Is this a true story? It certainly reads like one. It is a good story entered, for the horror being that your father passed. How strange that you would have seen him at the foot of your bed, but I believe it.
Hiking among the evergreen forests doting (dotting?) the majestic mountain range...
I think you've done well with this story. I have never spent time in those mountains but they sound beautiful.

Just loved this story. I work as a Hospice Nurse and I can tell you I have seen some strange things like this. There are times in someone's life when a loved on reaches out to them, in both live and death. I can image the person being scared. It's a natural reaction when something like this occurs. This is very well written and flows well. Very good keep writing/
