Macaws are truly special and such stunning birds. I loved your description of the bird and the sweet and fun dialog between human and bird. They are very intelligent and entertaining. I agree, they can make great pets, but only under the best of situations. Well-written account.

If a captive bird one must be it is better in the home than flying free. Yet, to soar the skies on rainbow wing make my heart want to sing. To bad about them being captive
when young in the rain-forest is where they belong.
This is a good entry for the Rhyming Poem contest. Thank you for sharing.

"glided gold" Did you mean "gilded gold". A sad poem, that speaks of reality. I like the picture and the rhymes are great. This is one of the reasons I would not keep a bird as a pet. If I got one, it would have to be uncaged. Good job!!

I really wish I had six stars give this poem. This is outstanding. Your rhyme and rhythm throughout is fun to recie. And your author notes wete very informative. My sister's had a macaw for 30 years, so I see the dedication it takes to raise one, therefore that's why I don't have one LOL. good luck in the contest this is surely a winner!

Awww...this is really a great write: it starts off "high" with the soaring and the flowing flight and then the movement to the cage where all freedom and, yes, all hope is now lost to the once free spirit! With rhyme and a familiar rhythm you tell the progression well and leave the reader with an emotional desire to, perhaps, never see or try to appreciate a bird in a cage ever again...good job! :) :) Thank you for sharing and good luck in the contest! :)

How sad. It sounds like a fascinating pet to have after reading your notes. I think birds could be pets if they are given room to move, a large area to fly in. Sadly , who has that kind of room? Thanks for sharing and luck to you in the contest.

Love this, and the well descriptive manner of freedom and captivity. Of young and old. The picture is perfect for this poem. I understand this to also describe how we create our own prisons. This flowed very well and was well written. Keep writing.

This is a very well written poem about the blue and gold MaCaw bird that is usually in homes of bird owners. You used very good descriptive words and a lovely picture of the bird. We have cats so we can't even think about little birds of any kind. I enjoyed reading and reviewing this. Blessings, Teri

a book, especially a large, heavy, scholarly one......this is the meaning of tome.....I'm not sure it fits ...a gold and blue's sad tome
But I agree we should truly commit and truly love them...
God bless
