great descriptions for great imagery of the feelings of loneliness. Love the Title and the photo that you used. I'm sure we all have felt this after a breakup that was not our choice. At times we may even want to die.

We get a sense of desolation experienced even years later by the Speaker. I am not sure "shrouding cloak" works as a symbol of how he feels her loss nor the word "rebeating" unless you want to imply the Speaker was physically abused.

    Re-beating is the constant feeling of still needing her. The cloak is meant to symbolize the dark feeling that still encompasses the subject. Thanks for the read and the comments, perhaps I should have been more concrete.

Sad state of affairs. Love unrequited can be painful. The inability to move on ensures a long time of suffering. This poem aptly describes what that feels like. The "waiting, hoping, wishing" can be debilitating. Good job!
