This is a beautiful, visual and vivid poem about the beauty that nature holds.. and how it can 'soothe the savage soul.' The picture is exquisite, and the font, coloring and harmonious blending of colors of the two create a visual and stunning effect... I think my favorite stanza is "...The creatures sing their woodland song,
a giggling brooklet plays along,
while pine trees whisper hush-a-bye,
their dulcet keys a lullaby,
the forest gently wrapped in moonlight's soft sarong..." 'giggling brooklet' is such delightful imagery.. it is both emotionally stunning but personifies the brooklet and assigns it human characteristics.. This 'form' of poetry however, is not one of my favorites... its flow is not as smooth and flowing as many are -- perhaps because of its the odd number of lines in each stanza, that it interrupts the flow and rhythm of the poem... but then, this is the form, it has nothing to do with your abilities whatsoever.. your poem is vivid, descriptive, soothing, and stunning...

Thank you for a truly stunning review. That last stanza is my favorite, too, so I'm glad it's yours. Thank you so much for all these great comments.

I felt the same, at first, about that longer fourth line, but after a while, it just seemed to fit.

I think the cross rhyme that is not required but may be used in this version of the Florette is what makes it something special and something more challenging. Having said that the imagery contained in the final line of this post is something else again. it is absolutely beautiful and original.

A very well-written Florette no 2. The woods speak with their own language and at night they sing a lullabye to the animals that go to sleep when the sun sets and the moon stands guard.

Although I don't see it used much, I have always had a soft spot for this rhyme scheme and you have done such a beautiful job with you word choice and combinations that a pic was just a bonus...your visual imagery was awesome! I can almost here the little brook! ;) ;) Thank you for sharing today! ;) Yvette

You have excelled yourself again, Yvonne, with this really magical poem. You've captured the delight of the woodland scene, bringing in the proud, majestic Oak. My favourite tree. The imagery in, gnarled and scarred, fits perfectly, as does, rustling it's branches, in reply. The next stanza gives us the playful mood of the giggling brooklet, and the soft whispering of the lovely scented pine. Altogether, you have created a beautiful relaxing scene which equals the picture above it. Well done, my friend, a treat to read! :)) Sandra xx

Hi Yvonne. Your Florette is lovely. Really well composed with good rhyming, flow and content. The image, too, is perfect. Bierstadt's artwork is amazing with your words. Marilyn
