I had to laugh when I looked at the picture after reading your poem--That's the look you will have on your face after you get a whiff of the litter box!
Sorry I've been off-line for a bit. I've been in the hospital after a bout with pneumonia, and now I'm catching up with old correspondence.

Hope you're feeling better. Thanks for giving this one a look. That image is from the film Pet Semetary.

    Pet Cemetery seems appropriate. :)

Hi Bill. I thought I reviewed this already. But I think I only read it. Is that a style to have three eight syllable lines followed by three lines of seven syllables? My tongue tripped on motoring in this line.

"baleful eyes and motoring purr,". Baleful means menacing and malignant.

"malignant eyes and motored purr"

Just a suggestion as it keeps your meter that you have throughout the poem. Thank you for sharing

If this is a kitten, I fear him growing up-haha. They can be a bit of a chore sometimes, so can my dogs but darn if we don't have to love them.

From our own words, the reason I despise cats have emerged. I lived with my maternal grandmother for about six months when I was about nine years old and I was subjected to this type of cruel treatment until my mother came and rescued me. Cats and I have been adversaries every since.

Wow--what a scary picture! You enumerated in the third through fifth lines why I do not own a cat!! Thanks for sharing your fun in rhyme. My guess is that you actually like felines. Smiles- Joan

My son has a cat at his house, so my need for feline exposure is fulfilled

I'm glad the cat-on-loan concept works for you! More smiles- Joan

Ha, this is really funny, Bill. LOL. I take it you're not a big cat fan, although I'm not certain I'd take a liking to the cat in the picture either. They do eat mice and kippers, but no litter boxes except the great outdoors.

A fun read of the much maligned kitty cat.

Goodness me! What upset THIS kitty to evoke such a baleful snarl? What a terrifying sight! Usually they just have a spit and a growl and maybe a slash with a paw of unsheathed claws, but I've never seen this level of response. The poem is a brief summation of what the author expects cats/kittens to do. To him! Poor Bill! Cat pee does have a pong and I don't blame you at all for finding it unpleasant. You can't get rid of it no matter how hard you try,but it does fade after a while.Quite a long while actually.Try Chanel no5 or maybe Midnight in Paris. Good one Bill, what's next? Frogs?????? cheers Cass

Yep...they grow up! :) :) Like the way you wrapped it up -- a good write with solid rhyme and good rhythm.

Ah, now, don't go painting a bad image for cats. They get enough of that.

This is amusing, and what a cat in the photo. He certainly isn't the cuddly kind. lol

That is one really mean looking cat in the picture here! I am thankful we don't have one that looks like that today! lol You used very good descriptive words that can be so true at times. I enjoyed reading and reviewing this. Blessings, Teri
