Oh wow!! I am so engrossed in this story! Your plots moves along at a fast pace, yet somehow I don't feel "rushed." I can always feel the tick-tock of the time machine clock, which is a wonderful reminder for me to be paying close attention.

Another EXCELLENT chapter!! I can't wait to see what happens next. (I've now decided to read two a day.) {Isn't this how addictions start?!]

This chapter of your story deals with physical abuse of a husband to a wife. The women who fought for the right to vote were going against the system and earned the ire of men for overstepping their bounds. A horrible situation. Well described with good detail. Much luck in the contest. Marilyn

Thank you, Marilyn, for reading this part. I don't think I would have liked to live in those days. It sounds romantic when we read romantic books of that era, but even the titled ladies were treated as a husband's possession to be treated as such. How awful! Did you know the law allowing husbands to be able to keep their wives in check by hitting them, didn't change until the mid 1970s in the UK? I was so surprised. Researching for this book has been very enlightening! Thanks, my friend, and good luck to you, too, although I think it's Bobs this time. :) Sandra xxx

Well, I'm glad I didn't have to listen to her awful husband in this chapter.
Her son sounds so loving and protective. I hope he doesn't change into his father, over time.
Great chapter, my dear. :-)

He is a bit of a pompous ass, isn't he? We'll see how he gets on later in the book. :)) Good things to come. LOL. Thanks again for another 6 stars review, my dear friend! Biggest hugs. :)) Sandra xxx

Such a sad commentary on life back then. Not that abuse doesn't happen now, but that feeling of helplessness of a woman and child is articulated beautifully.
And I enjoyed very much the image you painted of two close friends who still linked arms as I did with my friends years ago!

Thank you again, Beck, for another fabulous review. I'm so pleased you are enjoying this. It was an awful time for those suffragette women who had domineering husbands. Lots to come! Big hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

Thank you so much, Meeshu. Yes, this is just the beginning, they will be going back time and again, and so much more will happen before they complete this mission. They aren't a 100% sure what their role in this is yet, but they will soon. Thank you, my friend. ) Sandra x

The dialogue paints a believable picture of unhappy people in an unhappy household. Fear and hate seem to be the primary emotions of the occupants of this very fine house, proving that abuse happens not just to the poor. This is a well-written chapter, and if there are any errors, I didn't see them.

Abuse is still everywhere, Sandra, money and position don't mean anything when you have a bully behind that closed door. So awful. Thank you for your lovely review, and wonderful input. :)) Sandra xx

Hi, Sandra. Once again it is a pleasure to read brilliant writing by yourself. I am trying to hook on to this chapter and make sense of what I've missed. It's a time thing with me.

Your dialogue is near-perfect at all times and your images are solid and sound, Like:" Mary followed him and stared at Gladys. Her eyes were full of sympathy, as well as understanding. 'Should I go and fetch the doctor?'

"No!' Gladys's sharp reply startled me. 'You know what would happen if you do. I don't want to lose you. I'll be fine."

Good job, Sandra. :) Bob

Another great chapter. Well done and I saw no errors. Poor Gladys. In those days wasn't much a women could do about abuse. No one really cared or thought it was okay to hit your wife. Looking forward to seeing what Veronica and Mildred to next. Rox

Thank you, Rox! I'm at the point now where the story will now open up to discover why the girls are back in time. Lots of action ahead. Big hugs my friend. :)) Sandra xx

Hi, Sandra,

The abuse you've described here is awful, and I don't think it all changed when women got the vote. My father abused my mother horribly. My mother was waiting for my brother to turn eighteen so he could help her financially, but it cost her a great deal.

I was very young at the time, but I remember so many scenes of the horrors of it all.

You did a great job of showing the anger of Tommy. I saw my brother in his descriptions.

Looking forward to the next chapter,

~Mustang Patty~

Aw, Patty, that must have been a horrific thing to witness. I'm so sorry. Childhood should be the happiest time with no worries and just so much love. I'm sorry you and your brother didn't experience much of that side. Thank you for reading this part, I hope it didn't upset you too much. The story will be going away from this now, but there are still a couple of shocks for Veronica and Mildred in store when they return to the past again, but not what you'd think. :)) Big hugs, my friend. I've downloaded your kindle book and will buy your paperback once my funds are a bit healthier. :( But, at least I can start reading your fist book in this series. I'm so pleased you did it yourself, you'd still be in the same position regarding promoting it if you had paid out all that money. :) xx

This is a book that I would read. It combines so many genres: science fiction, historical and family drama. The characters are believable. I would like to read more.
