Love this one! The cat in the artwork really looks the part of an intelligent old cat looking for company. It sounds like Mortimer is looking for someone he can relax with and be comfortable with.

That's what he's looking for. He's such a sweet boy. Thank you, Lou, for reviewing this.
Comment from Marie Werner
I love the first line - such a great description for an older kitty! The second and third stanzas also really encapsulate kitty life. This made me smile. :) I thought the last line mixed the metaphor a bit - its the only place where the cat is doing something that feels human. Overall, I liked the feeling though.

I think Mortimer sounds like a very cool and romantic dude. Good looking too.
I love this poem. It is worthy of six stars but sadly I have none left. Good luck in the competition. Best wishes. Jen.

Thank you. Your kind words mean more than a six.
Comment from Hugh McDowell
Your poem is a great reminder that older cats (and others) are certainly worthy of companionship. I love that Mortimer starts out with he is an older gent. Sets the tone for the rest of the piece. Good pace and flow, rhyming spot on. Excellent. Hugh

Thank you. Sometimes, older cats are overlooked, but they make good pets. I believe they're grateful when they're rescued.

This is adorable and as a bonus it rhymes beautifully. I've read quite a few of these but this one is the best so far! I am a cat lover and the cat in the picture melts my heart. What a name...Mortimer! A real contender for the contest, best of luck to you.

Thank you for this lovely review.

A very well-written poem and advertisement for a companion to share her space. He seems to be an old gentle guy that will not give too much trouble and he is willing to bring flowers too.

Yes, the real Mortimer was just like that. Thank you, Sandra.

This is a cute poem seemingly about a cat searching for an owner and a home not another cat to love. He says he will always listen but will he always obey.
Good luck in the contest.
Have a great weekend and keep writing

Great ad. I wish I can take him home. Great rhyme, you tug at the heart strings. The picture is purrrfect, it makes you want to wrap your arms around him and give a great big hug. Your piece is flawless. Thanks for sharing.

Awww! That's so sweet! Yes, I'd adopt Mortimer - for a good companion. It's just that my daughter has invited all the neighborhood cats to come over that it's not so peaceful a place here. Lol.
