If you want a cat to last, a spayed female is the way to go. My four old dames are all fourteen years plus...looks great for that prompt, with dignified artwork...

    All my cats, boys and girls, have lived to be 16 or more. One, I'd had almost 19 years, and she was grown when I took her in. Thanks for a good review. I'm glad you like the photo.

I love this. So cute and so true. Well, Mortimer can certainly come to live with me anytime. Jewel may like a white companion as she is jet black. Good luck in the contest with this appealing poem. Marilyn

    Thank you. The real Mortimer was a tuxedo cat. So sweet. I know he would have enjoyed meeting Jewel. He like everyone and everything.

Bless Mr Mortimer, he sounds a fine feline gent and the purrfect companion for any kitty looking for love. I like the lighthearted rhythm and use of rhyme, and his picture is just so adorable. I am a massive cat lover and have 4 felines of my own. Good luck with the contest, very well written x

    Thank you, Hayley. Good to know you love cats, too. I have several and feed a colony of feral cats. When they ask if I want to contribute to an animal shelter, I have to laugh (inwardly).

    Everyone thinks cats are aloof. Someone forgot to tell mine. I've never had a cat that didn't come when I called, and it's impossible to do anything alone. lol

A great entry in the competition and wonderful photo accompaniment.

My only change would be "couple" to " couple of" OR "coupla" in 2nd last line. That's probably just being fussy though. Good work and best of luck.

This is a touching ad written by the old cat, sadly in need of a better home life. These words could only have come from one insecure because of perceived inadequacies, poor creature.

(It might do well, exploring those emotions on FS.)

Everyone loves a good cat poem...or so I assume. That's very cute and clever. I hope Mortimer finds his companion to sit with him in the doorway and sun bathe. Thank you for a fun and entertaining read.

How can anyone resist catnip flowers? I have two cats. I give them catnip and watch them get stoned on it. They're funny walking around and bumping into things.
