Your 3 line poem well expresses the problems of insomnia caused by physical pain. I hope things get better, or already have. This is well done.

The results of the opioid epidemic. One of the three traumas, and I almost succumbed.

I'm so happy you didn't succumb to the opioid epidemic. The world is a more beautiful place with your writing.

A wonderful entry. I know about those sleepless nights, but disagree with the last line. Hydrocon for my back pain helps me sleep the whole night through. Excellent use of alliteration with the s and d sounds.

Thank you for your kind review and rating. I have a very difficult time with even benign pain killers. Aspirin makes me have nightmares, OTC Benadryl is worse than caffeine and opioids (hydrocodone one of them) don't kill my pain. They just constipate me. I had a funny incident with recent use of arthritis meds and I wrote about it in Demon Hunter. That's how Sleepless Dark Night evolved.

They say one has to be very careful with pain medication, it can play havoc with the system. Some worse than others. An excellent entry in this three line contest Henry, good luck, blessings, Roy

Wow! Can I ever relate to this. I have two bad knees and arthritis in all my joints. I've taken many different pain meds over the years, you are correct that it puts you in a fog. It's a hard choice to make but recently it was made for me. I'm taking a blood thinner now that makes it impossible for me to take anything for pain other then Tylenol. It doesn't work! Thanks for sharing this insightful poem.

Thank you for reading my poem, your comments and wonderful stars. I appreciate them. Boogienights, my prayers are for you. The doc told me that I'll be having these pain spells periodically the rest of my life. I'm supposed to use a common sense approach to exercise and other strenuous activities. They don't have pills for common sense.

As they say, sometimes the cure is worse than the disease! And pain killers do not cure. They often add to the problem by sending us to the Twilight Zone! Well done. We've all been there.

A very well-written three-line poem about sleepless nights caused by constant pains. The danger of pain killers are that we get addicted to the effects of the painkillers without curing the cause of the pain.

Yep! Insomnia can be blamed for many ills and we need our rest to be able to function and without it we are like zombies and drugs never work, best wishes, love Dolly x

You did a good job, Henry, with your contest entry. In just 3 short lines, as required, you told a good little story. Yes, meds help but they can distort reality. Good job and best wishes. Jan

Your poem is excellent. I have gout. The pain is torturous. The best description of it I ever heard was on a Tv show. The character said he had gout and he couldn't bear the weight of a bed sheet on his feet.

Thomas, I hear you. If I eat too many beans and tree nuts, the Choline they contain cause me to have gout. Thank you for your comments and wonderful stars.

Pain comes in different ways. Good poem and picture. Word flow makes it and easy read. Good luck in the contest. Sometimes drugs does not always help take away the pain.

zip22, I hear you. All opiates did for me was make me constipated. This arthritis pain med kills the pain, and also gives me nightmares and hallucinations. Thank you for the comments and stars.
