Another great one, Sandra!! This one had my blood boiling. I hope the Vice Admiral gets his come-uppance and SOON!!! Your writing is so good, Sandra! What an engaging story! I might start getting greedy and reading more than one a day. xo

A fine caricature of the bombastic misogynist, Vice Admiral Pembrock. Like him, I went straight from an all-boys English public school into the armed forces, and so I have met the type! Bully and bluster! I'm intrigued to find out how his relationship with his son, Tommy, works out.

Thank you again, Tony, for another lovely review. Gladys and her family are the centre of this story that Veronica and MIldred will have to deal with. There are plenty of twists and turns ahead. It was so nice to read that my description of the Vice Admiral came across authentically, thank you for that. :)) Big hugs, my friend. :) Sandra xx

This story will surely be another hit especially so that it is exploring the theme of domestic abuse and Veronica and Mildred is in the middle of this boiling family problem pivoting on Gladys, her son and her abusive husband. I can't wait for the next post.

Thank you so much, Susan, what a lovely review. :)) It was a really awful period in time for women, this is why they wanted the vote, and their rights! After researching it more, those women were so brave. I'm so pleased you enjoyed it. Big hugs!! :)) Sandra xx

Oh my land what a scene you've painted here, Sandra. This brute bully of a man has met more than his match in Mildred. I can imagine he will nurse that humiliation well into the future.

But then his rationale will be along the lines that those suffragettes brought it on themselves. *cough*

A fascinating chapter, Sandra and looking forward to the next.

Thank you so much, Gloria! Men didn't like their women to be independent, they preferred them to be where they wanted them, in bed and obedient. He's never met a woman like our Mildred though! :)) I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter, thanks again, Gloria. :) Sandra xxx

This chapter wasn't so much interesting as it was spellbinding by the manner in which it was written. Talk about being immersed in the action! Excellent. My face still smarts from the blow Gladys received. And, yes, another side of Mildred is shown.
I take it that Veronica and Mildred will not be appearing as ghosts. I was half expecting that sorry excuse of a man was going to hit Mildred. Excellently written my friend.

Thank you so much, Diane!! What a lovely thing to say, I'm quite blushing! lol. Regarding Veronica and Mildred, things are going to change in many ways. This era has so much to offer my two girls and you should know by now, all my books have ghosts! :))
Thank you for the glittering gold stars, my dear friend. :) Big hugs. Sandra xxx

Another great chapter that not only brings us up to speed with the atrocities women of all classes had to suffer, but the emerging character of the younger Mildred. With her on board, Veronica is sure to have another amazing journey! Keep up the good work, my friend - you have certainly captured everyones attention!

This is a great piece of writing, Sandra. Your descriptions and pacing are good, and your characters speak in a believable way. You really drew me into the story and made me feel along with your characters.
One nitpick here: 'Since you're home, you can clean your mother up,' he growled.

I would add, 'he growled at the boy' so that it is clearer who his focus is shifting towards. Other than that, great work.

Hello sandramitchell
I read your third chapter of you book - Tommy -
and it was to me very emotional when I read of how how Vice Admiral Pembrock of the Royal - husband was so cruel and out of control when he was so cruel when he was striking his sweet wife

Hello, Gert, how lovely that you came and read this chapter, thank you so much. This is the 3rd book in my trilogy, so it's the last one... I think! lol. Veronica and Mildred have travelled back in to the past. They are in 1906 at the moment, but will come back to their own time, 1996 sometimes to do research. This is going to be the most lively of the 3 books, :)). When I researched this era, I could quite understand why the women rebelled and demanded the vote and women's rights. They were also very brave. Thank you again, for coming along, I really appreciate you. :) Sandra xx

'Well, aren't yeh the brave one hittin' defenceless women and children!' - This is so Mildred I couldn't help cheering aloud!

And I could so understand poor Tommy. I'd wish such a father to be dead too.

Once again I delighted in your amazing story telling of this very unusual story. I never thought I'd love reading this genre, but you got me hooked nd I stay hooked.

Bless you, Aki, I'm so pleased to have you along. I bought your book, 'Bound by Tradition book 1 a couple of weeks ago, ready for me to read when I've finished the book I'm reading at the moment. I leave a review when I've read it. :) How many are there in the series? I love that kind. I like getting to know the characters. :)) Thanks again, my friend. Sandra xxxx

Wow, thanks for picking up one of my earlier books, Sandra. That's the beginning of the Lindqvists saga. You'll have a lot of "flowery" language there from Luoland, Kenya. But you'll enjoy - I hope - the cultural clashes; these were my favourite parts to write.

    Enjoy!

I know I will enjoy it, and the rest in the series. I know I haven't been great on here, but I do love your books, the last one I read was amazing. I'm sure I put a review on Amazon for that one too. What I like about buying them, I don't have to wait to turn the page!! LOL!!

You sure give a great portrait of what a free spirited woman's life might have been like. Geez, he didn't even check to see if she survived his brutal attack. No wonder the first words out of her mouth were that she wished he was dead. If he heard that, it might go even worse for her though.

You're right, he would go mad. It was a tough life for women in those days, made worse because of their determination to get the vote and more women's rights. Thank you so much, Lou, for this lovely review. :) Sandra xxx
