Good chapter. Good reveals on Helen's character. When you describe the Kalash women, it brings to mind the picture of the young woman with green eyes that was on the front page of Time Magazine about 25 years ago. She was from Afghanistan, I think. So beautiful!

I didn't spot any spags of any kind. Well done, Tony.

Thanks very much, Adrienne, for your review and the six stars. I first read of the Kalash people in the famous Rudyard Kipling story "The Man Who Would Be King", which was made into a film about forty years ago - one of the Golden Oldies with Sean Connery and Michael Caine!

Charles was a gentleman and didn't take advantage of Helen in her inebriated condition. He believes she is much too young to be interested in him anyhow. After she falls asleep he sleeps in a cane chair out on the balcony. In the morning she begins to tell him about her past over a cup of tea. Well done Tony. Nancy:)

I'm found this chapter interesting, Tony. I believe, as Charles does, that Helen has some ulterior motive for acting as she does. You did a good job describing the hotel, the night, and thoughts of ?Charles. That ?Rugby song was really funny. Thanks for sharing. I can hardly wait to find out more about the child in the letter. It seems Helen, has a very exotic mother, born from a minor ethnic group in northern Pakistan, said to be of Alexander the Great's ancestry, being much younger than Charles, he doesn't want to ruin the relationship, sleeps on the couch, and is awakened early the following morning, well done, Tony, excellent episode, well done, blessings, Roy

Superb, again. Thank you for making Charles such a gentleman and protector of Helen. I like that about his character. Helen's ethnicity is an interesting twist and certainly adds to the drama.
I learn a lot about writing from you. I am new to FanStory and I am amazed at the high caliber of writers among us. Very well done.
All my best,
Sally

Ah, the English cup of tea! Where would we be without it? It seems that our Helen has some painful history in her life. Why are people disowned just for falling in love? So stupid. Anyway, at least our Charles has scruples, and didn't take advantage of a rather tipsy young lady. More excellent writing, my friend, but the plot is really thickening now. :)) Sandra xx

Psst! Don't forget to give credit to the editor when you publish. Lol. I have never come across the other verses before, and you are right, they have little merit but that first verse is quite clever, provided you know what caviar really is.

I love the way this this mirrors real life in that one bit does not logically follow from what has gone before as often happens in novels. Suddenly the Pakistan connection is revealed and Helen's looks explained.

As Alice was won't to say, 'curiouser and curiouser'.

I enjoyed your review, Jim. Nothing in my life is particularly logical, and I guess this is reflected in my writing to some extent!
