It is horrible, isn't it? Fighting wars of all types for the wrong reasons, our disrespect for our service people who fought for the right ones, even from our petulant president. My grandpa was awarded the purple heart in WW II. My dad was a vet and due to delay of an MRI for prolonged pain which caused him to limp (the vet docs kept giving him pain meds and telling him to lose weight instead) he had to fall and break his hip in order for stage 4 cancer to be found. I'm very discouraged by the lack of care and respect in this country for those who serve. Great write... and good to see you are still around. Most I was fans of left before my return.

A very well-written 5-7-5 poem about the medal of honor of a parent that becomes the tool for making a few bucks from it after the owner of the medal is not there anymore.

Thank you for this lovely review. There is a lot of double meanings in this one. One is that "heirs" in my mind are the citizens of this country, as I feel very concerned about what's coming out of D.C. right now.

Hello Val Crisson
Read your 5-7-5
Instead of fighting over the medal for cash
Who ever has Mccain's medal in their drawer
should only value the true meaning of why and how why the medal was awarded.

Thank you, Gert. People tend to lose sight of what is of real value anymore. By "heirs" I was sort of implying to the citizens of this country, and some of the disturbing things going on in D.C.

How sad to miss the one thing money can't buy. You did a good job with your 575, Val. All syllables are correct per line. Your picture words pair nicely. Best wishes. Jan

True brave soldiers need a medal of honor. Those are the ones who have saved millions of lives are the real heroes. I like your poem. No mistakes in this poem. Good luck in the contest!

The surprise at the end is such a delight. You truly take the reader on a journey with history in just these three very brief sentences. The photo is a good companion as well!

I'm from Canada, so not up to date with American politics, although I see by the headlines some of the stuff that's going on. I hope it all gets sorted out eventually. Nice little 5-7-5 even if I don't get the meaning between the lines.

This is profound. The heirs don't know what the most valuable possession is. My father fought in the Pacific during world war II. His medals are my most cherished possession.

This is exactly the review I was looking for, though I treasure this "six." I treasure your words more. My family has always served both sides, and I believe what is wrong with this country. We should all serve in one way or the other.

This is a wonderful tribute to John McCain. Like you, I have been very disheartened by rude comments about him in the wake of his passing. I do not understand people. Your words of kindness are well-written.

Hello Val,

A poem that gets right to the poem. Criteria were met. Great title and image used.
As usual, the heirs will fight over the money.
Good job. No Editions required.
