The photo grabbed me. The color blue was a good choice for the theme here. You did well in relaxing me with the mesmerizing drip of the icicle. Good job!

How I miss watching Icicles melt. I remember winter in Colorado growing up and watching the icicles melt off the edge of our roof, always a slow steady melt. Your poem reads nice and the photo you used has a calmness about it. Nice haiku poem and nice to know it doesn't always have to be 5-7-5. I am just learning about certain types of poems.

a very fine haiku, celebrating nature's drama. perfect 5-7-5 form. it is reassuring to know someone else can just sit and watch ice melt. good job, Val...............meeshu

Thank you, but as I stated in my comments, this is not a 5/7/5 haiku nor does it need to be. So glad you got the "cash" but sadly did not get the point

Val

Well done. Clean and simple. Reminds me when I was a kid, playing outside on a cold day, watching in fascination as icicles melt, as the sun hit them, the way you describe. Have you ever been to our mountains in the Adirondacks?

I like your haiku Val Crisson
of how when one watches an icicle slowly drip if you watch it won't be long before you are in a hypnotic state.

This is a good haiku, Val. Your topic is most interesting. Your words capture that moment in time with a great satori. Good job with the syllable count. I know about the number of syllables that is acceptable. Best wishes. Jan

This is a great haiku. Nature at one of its fine "hypnotic" moments! At first, I was counting for the 5-7-5 but then realized that the contest was not calling for that. This is a wonderful entry. I hope you do well in the contest.

Dew drops balanced on a blade of grass do the same thing!..nice little Haiku! Though the picture is kinda small here..I enjoyed reading! Good luck in the contest!
