Hi Brett,I know I'm far too late with this review. I've been very busy of late and have fallen hopelessly behind. This is a fun little flash. The ending was totally unexpected. I liked it. Good luck in the contest. All best. Ulla:))

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed this little story.

I can relate completely. There's nothing as good as that first swallow of coffee in the morning.
It seems so serious, the search for love, and then comes the punch line. It's very creative and shows a great sense of humor.
Very well done!

Clever idea for your Dribble Flash Fiction entry. How could we start the day without that caffeine jolt? I must have a cup in the morning, but that's really the only one I absolutely need. Great description of the feeling of getting that first cuppa. That's true love, indeed. Great job of building up to that last sentence. judi

Coffee is the one thing people would die for in the morning. They get the jitters like a drug addict needing their fix. So much for caffeine.

Ah yes, coffee fits best here. I am a tea drinker too. This is excellent flash fiction with a humorous twist in the closing. Good flow. Good concept. Good word economy. Exceelnt double meaning.
Spag suggestions:
*
Though he searched high and low(,) he would not find love in the afternoon.
*But,(NO COMMA) his fortunes changed with the dawn's early light.
Fun picture too...well done.
Good luck...this is a fun entry.
Warmly, rd

Hello Brett!
Very good writing - very clever twist to it and some double-entendre thrown in to throw me off the scent until the final dismount. I am also a tea person and you are right - tea has no underlying eroticism: coffee is seductive, tea's what the vicar drinks.
50-words on the nose too (just in case you needed affirmation)
I wish you well in the contest with this and with your further writing.
cheers
