Very interesting poetic form. The story depicted is criptic but astounding in the message. The realization of the endless struggle over time, during and after wars. Justice the ultimate prize the ultimate gift.

It's always amazing me that governments have no conscience and do such evil things. I enjoyed reading your poem. You did a great job putting words together to make this poem.

Great poem and picture. I always like it when planes take off. The sound of speed is like no other. Good flow of words makes it a fast and interesting read.

Hi, Doug. This is one heck of a well thought out piece of writing, my friend. You hit the nerve of America here:

"Exhilaration
Power
Trap doors shut
Wind-mind diverted."

Bravo! Bob

Hi Victor, having flown for twenty years as a flight attendant, I can follow what you're saying. You take off but so does your thoughts and imagination. Yes, It happens every time. Please do remember, when I flew we're talking about real flying. Everything is so streamlined in today's world. All the best. Ulla:))

Excellent poem --- thought provoking... sparse and select words make the poem more powerful... the brevity is bold and very effective... and I am able to relate to the message in your words --- that sense of feeling alone when you take to the air -- for me, it happened in a hot-air-balloon... what I experienced was a profound feeling of 'connectedness' and felt God near... it temporarily removed me from my petty and earthly concerns, and rendered me with a more universal vision -- and concern for others outside of myself.. so you being able to have that connection and appreciation for America as a result of being air born and spirit born, is one I understand totally... excellent poem..

WWII
I see the Messerschmitt Me 262
The precipice
As my Nazi jet engine
lifts me skyward
The sacrifice of all before
I am humbled
Strangely, peace fills me
And I become...
a nation
I am America...I loved this so well written as always Victor, very informative also love and regards Meia x

Ah yes, Vic, the first fighter jet aircraft--the dreaded and deadly Messerschmitt Me 262--also nicknamed Schwalbe, which means "Swallow" in German in fighter versions, or Sturmvogel, German for "Storm Bird" in fighter-bomber versions, was the world's first operational jet-powered fighter aircraft.
While German use of the aircraft ended with the close of World War II, a small number were operated by the Czechoslovak Air Force until 1951. Captured Me 262s were studied and flight tested by the major powers, and ultimately influenced the designs of post-war aircraft such as the North American F-86 Sabre and Boeing B-47 Stratojet.
You know what they say. "Imitation is the greatest form of flattery."
Interesting comparison--you to the world's first jet-fighter aircraft. I guess one could claim that you're a fighter who chooses never to bomb.

Hi Victor. I see you're a pilot as well as a poet. There is no greater love than to feel the surge of wings as you take off. As long as everything is in working condition. I was a jet engine mechanic in the Air Force and know. I never flew one, but rode in them. And you are correct, "All governments are inherently evil."
