Nice plot. It seems to go forward at a nice pace.
There are some things, however, that I feel need some reckoning. For example, wouldn't Shana show some emotions at first meeting Patricia whom she had never met before? Shana, however, just makes a nonchalant comment:
"He's not here right now. When he gets home, I'll tell him you want to speak to him."
Then again
"No. She doesn't need you to stay. You're only hired help anyway. We can share Drew stories, right, dearie?"
However bitter and a messed up person Patrician might be, would she say"You are only a hired help?" Seems a bit unnatural to me. But that's my opinion.

Thank you for the kind review. Yes, Patricia would. Shana has never met Patricia before, but the reader has. Shana is very formal and has heard all about Patricia.

Oh, what a time for Patricia to show up. That should be fun. She has a high and mighty attitude. She refers to Oscar as just the hired help. Wouldn't blame Shana if she had Oscar escort her out. This should make for an interesting development. Maybe Patricia will still be there when the dogs arrive. I bet they don't like her. Great characterization, and this new angle keeps things moving. judi

A chapter that's laden with authentic dialogue. I like the way you place the tags strategically to emphasise the natural pauses in a speech. I am beginning to get a better feel for each of the characters from the way they speak and what they say. There's good development of character through dialogue.
Just a few things that you might like to consider:
" ...King Lear disowns his beloved daughter. Of course, when I did, how was I to know I'd meet Drew." [This came across as a bit of a non sequitur. Did you mean 'when this happened to me' rather than 'when I did'?]

I think Drew's EX. will get more than she bargained for. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very good read. There is good imagery.
