Oh how very true -we really have no idea what may be 'locked deep inside ' an exquisite image 'wisp of a memory ' - a lot conveyed here in this short format

This is an excellent read for the memory of a loved one and such a beautiful short but powerful sentiment. We never know when the memories will appear, just as you say.

So true! All of a sudden, because of a happening, chance meeting, or some odd thing, we receive a ''blast from the past''! Well done!
Blessings, Therese

This is a lovely but sad poem you've shared. Its true that memories can come out of nowhere and when they do its bittersweet. The picture you included fits your words perfectly. Best of luck to you in the contest.

hello Aprilviolet.
A very good piece concisely making a valid and emotional observation. We carry lots of triggers, or I should say that there are lots of triggers we are receptive to. A smell, a song.
I read that all of our cells die in cycle and if so, that a memory must pass from one cell (the old one) to another (the new one) at some point - but that memories are held across multiple cells and it is incomplete or inaccurate duplication which in some cases causes us to "remember" something incorrectly or incompletely. Perhaps then, there is a strand of cells with a memory embedded in them but which lacks complete connectivity because of one missing part: and then a lock of hair falls on a brow in a given way, with the sun at such-and-such and angle and the circuit becomes complete - and the 'lost' memory floods back.
You have written a lovely piece here.
I wish you well with your further writing
cheers
