For all the money in the world plus ten dollars, I wouldn't live in New York. This is an excellent entry in the contest. According to my personal psychic advisor, you will win and send me half the funny money. Thanks in advance.

AA,
Wow! I probably would have done the same thing. I'm a country girl, you know. *smile* I went to London once with two friends - one of whom had been there MANY times. Me and the other friend were international travel novices.
My second friend lost her hat in the subway. A train rumbled by and blew it off her head. It fell down into the tracks and I was hurrying after it - and would probably have jumped down quick to grab it, but my first friend hollered out to me that the tracks were electrified. *smile*
Silly me. Thanks!

Robyn... this is so funny... I'm a very bad girl... I took my sister to London and we were in the Underground. Two guys started fighting right by the tracks and me being the impulsive out of control one... I made my way to where they were and as the first punch hit... I yelled stop it... just stop it... my sister pulled me back. They stopped. My sister hesitates to trade with me. Kidding but not. yours, diana

Diana, excellent. My wife and I want to visit New York City. Your poem describes exactly how I picture it. Glad you didn't catch up with the purse snatcher. Sounds like you and your sister had a good time. Hugh

Oh, New York, New York, my favourite city in the whole wide world, and I've been so fortunate to seen most of it. For twenty years I flew into New York at least three times a month from Denmark, and spend a few days each time. Not to mention all the other times I've been there. I loved your poem as you can imagine, and it was maybe as well you didn't catch up with the thief. God knows what would have happened. All the best. Ulla:)))

I was a flight attendant for twenty years with SAS, Scandinavian Airlines. It's mentioned in my novel: The Rustle In The Wind. Yes, I'm lucky. I've had an interesting life. And still have, hehe. :)))

Art Asylum: a childhood dream of mine (coming from a small, country town) was to go to New York City and see all the sights. As an adult, I visited the city on 3 different occasions. Wow, what a shock! I watched a pick-pocket work the crowds as the theaters let out at play's ending. What an art! I discovered that the city does sleep, takes a nap, between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. For so many people, usually in such tight circumstance, no one is friendly toward each other. Your poem accurately details of what you saw there, It placed me back on a street corner in Manhattan with all of its sounds, sights and commotions. Nice writing! livelylinda

Hey livelylinda...
It's funny... I've been there several times and oddly find the people agreeable in a brusk way... It makes me laugh... I just work the conversation and it turns out good. Thanks for your terrific review and your great p.o.v. yours, diana

New York is not the place to be in the rush rush of the frenzy. It is a very dangerous place to be or grow up in that's for sure. How people can live there I will never know.

The purse snatching that I witnessed didn't go exactly as I say...much to my sister's dismay I went running after this teenager who sprinted like a gazelle...so I'm running after him yelling stop thief...guess what, no one stopped him... just as I lost sight of the creep I found two beat police...but alas all they could do was take the woman's statement... she was from Iowa. I have no idea what i would have done if I actually caught this guy...probably not one of my better ideas...but it was all part of the experience
Such a fascinating story and poem...well done this really is superb kindest regards and warmest wishes Meia xx

So much activity and noise happening at once, I can understand the little sister being so rapt. You get all of the cacophony of sound of a major city. Your poem leads up well to the last line which tells that all this is the reason why the city never sleeps.
I like the picture.

You've certainly caught the atmosphere of frenetic activity in this! A city full of noise and drama. I can't say that I'm all that fond of it, but there's no doubt that there is a beating pulse in the heart of this famous city.

Hey Diana, wow, what an experience you had in New York, and it is literally the place that never sleeps, I woke up because of the car horns and went downstairs out into the street and there were people and cars everywhere, it amazed me, but I confess, I was glad to get home. I like Australia's lifestyle, very chilled by comparison.
I really liked this rhyme of yours:
A woman cries out, 'a thug just stole my purse.'
Running right by me, he shouts an incoherent curse.
So succinct, a story in two lines.
I saw no errors and this was a really fun adventure in a poem, cheers, Ana.
