What a wonderful tribute poem to your neighbor/wife and their love story. In the end, it really is the simple things we cling to. I loved your photo, too. This reminded me of my dad and trying to help him through the grief of losing my mom. :( A bittersweet issue you have written so well!

This contains the most beautiful sentiment. I love the sound of your neighbour, he sounds wonderful. I sympathise with his sadness.
I'd like to make one suggestion. The final line of the second last verse sounds to me like there is one syllable too many. This could be corrected by changing 'somewhere' to 'still.'

Thank you so much, Bob, for your encouraging review and your suggestion. I always appreciate it when someone offers constructive criticism. The line you are referring to is eight syllables, which is consistent with the rest of the poem, so I will most likely retain the word "somewhere." But, again, I do appreciate your close reading.
    My best to you.

Your poem captures the feelings of loss from the widower's viewpoint. Excellent poetic form that takes the reader into the heart of this man. It is great that your neighbor has happy memories.

Thank you so much, Elaine, for such a thoughtful review, and thank you for the exceptional rating as well.
I am truly honored. I debate whether to read this poem to my neighbor even though I told him I would write
one. I'll have to think about that.
    Thanks again.

This poem is precious... The 92-year-old man definitely has a grand outlook on life and the grieving process ... he seems very satisfied in his own soul... That he can cherish the love of his life of so mini years and enjoy all of the memories...thank you for sharing this beautifully written poem

Excellent. It's amazing the most mundane things we remember when we lose someone. I certainly understand the talking to a passed loved one. We lost our first son in labor and for years I would talk with him. Very sentimental yet uplifting poem. Hugh
