Very well written and emotionally charged.

I haven't read them all yet, but of the ones I've reviewed so far, this is the best I've read.

But I might suggest replacing "fled" with "flees." Otherwise it sounds like they're not so much sharing the kiss and her eyes are sightless because she's already gone, in other words he's kissing a corpse which comes off more creepy than tragic.
