I'm late to happen on this poem. You have a true gift for expressing the physical response to natural occurrences. "Warm evening exhale" Exactly how it feels as you wait, watching, for the last light of day to disappear. Spiritual.

Mmmm, just so - lovely time of day to just 'be' without doing, thinking about anything, watch the 'fading silent sun', take this perfect moment to relax, feel 'its reflective glow, warm evening exhale'.
No wonder recognized and maybe a winner in the contest.

Kerry - Wow! Fantastic picture to run alongside this thoughtful composition for the haiku contest. Nature at its finest and an end line as a great conclusion for a lasting visual. Well done and best of luck in the competition. ~DD

I think your description of sunset is very good. I like that you call the sun silent even though it brings so much heat and light and that it emanates a glow. I remember my grandpa looking at the sunset one hot summer saying, "There goes that ball of
fire." He surely felt the evening exhale. I have a mountain that blocks my view of
the sunset. If we ever move. My first requirement for a home is to see the sunset.

I love sunsets. They are so peaceful and pretty. It doesn't matter what life is like for you, what's going on, or who is mad at whoever. A sunset is like the moon, you can get lost in it.

I love the first two lines, Kerry, but I'm not sure about the Satori. It's different, that's for sure, with 'exhale' on the end. You're right of course, when I think about it, it's the sort of thing you do at the end of the day when all the work is finished, a big exhale. Good luck with it, Giddy
