LOL! Very cute and entertaining Dactylic Tetrameter poem...and I will leave the technical correctness to everyone else, LOL. However, to address your distress over plastic straws, I'm old enough to remember (waxed?) paper ones. Like so much plastic, plastic straws are one-time-use items that stick around long after their 10 minutes of usefulness over, polluting our environment forever. All the best,

Thank you so much. I, too, remember the paper ones. I don't know why we couldn't go back to those again. They worked very well.

Super execution of the dactylic meter plus you've introduced me to yet another poetic form! And the messge resonates with me because I also see so many changes and all we can do is adapt and still remain experts of "remember when."

Oh, mercy me. I'm the champion of 'remember when.' LOL. Thank you for this wonderful review and stars. You must try one now. It doesn't matter what meter you use.

Wow! I am very impressed by your skill in composing a great poem about a current event--the discontinuance of drinking straws--in this complicated but interesting form. Kudos to you. Marilyn

Thank you, Marilyn. What a great review you've given me. Now, you must try this form. Use any meter. Mine just sort of wrote itself in dactylic.

I think I will give it a go, Yvonne. I read yours through a few times to get the form clear in my mind. I like it. Marilyn

Mommy,

haha! I don't use straws as a rule, but many of my family members can't drink without them. Their being removed from society would be a tragedy of the highest sort, in their eyes. Thanks !

I rarely use them myself, but I'd like to know they're available if I wanted one. Thank you for reviewing, Robyn.

I saw it coming a long, long, long time ago. I solve the plastic straw problem years ago. I went to Home Depot, bought a roll of plastic tubing, and cut it into straws. Sorry about all the longs. I needed some filler.

LOL. Good thinking. I know what you mean about having the pad your message. Frustrating. Thanks for reviewing.

I bet it will be the last straw...will they put it in a shadow box and glorify the wasteful halicon days of bright red bendiness suckability
Ok it seems we should just bring our own...make our own coffee and stay home even better
I like your poem
God bless

Thank you. I appreciate that. Yes, it might come to that - putting it in a shadow box for future generations to see. lol

This is a good commentary poem about the changes we see in the life and those little things we take for granted. I have never heard of this format of poetry. Trolaan--thank you for teaching me something new today. :)

You worked in the required letters beautifully. The poem read smoothly all the way through. I read that in some places in California they're threatening to seriously punish people for using plastic straws. How extreme can you get? I can see you are thinking back to the days of the soda fountain, where young people maybe shared a soda, maybe each one having a straw. That was the distant past, and I don't even know of any soda fountains today. A fun write, and very up to date! judi

Thank you, Judi. This was very hard for me. I started and stopped so many times. I was afraid it wouldn't make sense to anyone but me, but I feel better now that you said it makes sense to you. There are a few soda fountains in small towns still, but a rarity.

Hi, damommy, and you're very welcome. Not using plastic straws will not have much impact when there are powerful cosmic forces that could bring an end to earth as we know it. judi
