The Last Straw

Well written to this Trolaan form Yvonne and I like the topic you chose. It's funny they pick on plastic straws and shopping bags but there is so much packaging in supermarkets nowadays, and it is people that cause them to end up in oceans anyway.
Maybe I too lack perspective, getting too old perhaps.
This form wasn't as hard to write, I found, as it sounded.
Enjoyed,
cheers,
valda

You interpreted the rules much as I did and in my opinion you created a proper
Trolaan. Is it just me or does it seem US manufacturers have gone for the cheap so desperately nothing works anymore? Tinned soup won't last a month, nothing tears on the perforation, seals refuse to pull off, plastic flatware can't dip water, you name it. Twenty-first century....

I agree with you so much it's scary. I'm always lamenting what they call 'progress.' It all worked for us fine in the old days, so why change things??????

Thank you for such a delightful review.

Good poem... never saw this form before. Before plastic, straws were paper and worked just fine. We can easily go back to paper, which is bio-degradable, thus safe for the environment.

I agree. I didn't see anything wrong with the paper ones. Of course, we can use the plastic ones more than once, but so what. Thank you, Phyllis.

You did an excellent job, Yvonne, with a difficult style. Your lines read smoothly with super rhymes. Your story is current & thought=provoking. Your picture is supportive of your well-chosen words. Thanks for the author notes, too. Great job & thanks for sharing. Jan

Hi, Yvonne,
Yes, it is interesting to see what they will come up with to replace the plastic straws. Will we all have to buy our own and keep them in our car? Will the silly straw make a comeback?
It does get tiring, doesn't it?

LOL. I hadn't thought of having to buy ones to keep around. I hope they go back to paper. They worked very well.

Very clever poem - I like what you did with the beginning letters - very masterful. Plastic straws are indeed an interesting topic - for so long they've been taken for granted but it seems their time is almost up!

I'm afraid that's so, but we can go back to the paper ones. They worked very well. Thank you for reviewing.

I love the message this poem conveys. I also enjoyed reading the structure required for this type of poem. I'm learning more about poetry every day. Me, I'm still just a rhyme and balanced meter poet.
After reading quite a bit of your work I can tell you are indeed very talented. I enjoy your work. And your explanations of the different types of poetry.

If you're a rhyme and meter poet, you're already there. Also, I've taken advantage of Pantygynt's wonderful classes on poetic devices. I don't always do it perfectly, but I'm learning.
Come join Potlatch Poetry where we have a different challenge every week. That's where we get most of the new forms to try. I hope you'll join us.
Thank you for the lovely compliment.

"They" are saying plastic straws will be done away with and replaced with something more earth friendly. Why not go back to paper straws like we used to have? I'm stocking up. lol
Thank you for reviewing. I'm so happy you like it.

well those paper straws are cuter!! :-)
-
Yes, they were, and they were biodegradable. Sometimes I think we outsmart ourselves.

Excellent Poem! The author's words are descriptive, interesting
and thought provoking. The reader pondered on the theme of
this poem. The artwork is perfect and compliments both the words
and theme of this poem.
