Hi Diana. This is a good entry for the contest. I love the wildlife of Africa but I could never go on a safari. I can't take hit weather or climb into a Jeep or truck. But I vicariously know a lot about the wildlife. This is a great story in a poem. Thank you for sharing

An Amazing Journey that you took us on... Wow --- You didn't say in your notes, whether this was a real accounting of what happened on your trip, or if this is all imaginary and made up --- but because you give a detailed snyopsis of what happened on what days, and describing native garb so well, colors, wild beasts, and your encounters with them, it sure sounds like this was a Safari to remember! I can only imagine how truly raw, rough, primal, rugged and demanding life must be there... I love nature, but even for my adventurous spirit, I would not be able to live in that environment... but your description of what it was like was so vivid, I felt like I was watching National Geographic, or Animal Planet!! I loved your line "...The circle of life's revealed itself to me in this ethereal place..." Thanks for this African safari, and adventure of a lifetime!

Hello Diana, such a vivid and interesting story in your poem. You paint a wonderful picture with your words and bring these places and people to life. I thought it a striking poem with excellent imagery and the poetic device of dividing it into 3 visions really works well.

I read this several times so I could take it all in ( thank you for the notes especially on the Maasai men and their belief that red would scare the lion, this is an absolutely excellent and wonderful read and poem very well written, I shall definitely read this one again my congratulations to this Author, best wishes for your competition****kahpot

Sounds as though you had a wonderful trip and saw a wide range of wildlife. Your poem gives a wealth of graphic detail about what you saw. Very much a case of survival of the fittest. A story poem with a difference. Good luck in the contest.
