we'll screw Mars up as well, then move along.
(That is what viruses are prone to doing... take over host... use it up, try to jump to new host before old host dies. So hope and travesty are dependent on which side of the glass one is looking through. I would like to keep some hope that humans in space won't be a complete travesty, but the outlook is grim some days more than others. Nice use of ecopoiesses.

If it can be established on mars... maybe some ecopoiesses can be circled back around and used on the earth again, too.

I suspect one we packed our bags and headed off, the Earth would get along just fine, Turtle. Many thanks for the thoughtful review - Craig.

Hi Craig. We certainly are in changing and uncertain times. I enjoyed your poem and the ecopoiesis in our new home. Ultimately we will have to go out of our solar system though. Good rhyming and content within your piece. The illustration suits it perfectly. Marilyn

Many thanks, Marilyn. I was happy when I found that picture, too. Exactly what I was looking for :) Cheers, Craig

This is a great poem, regardless of the inclusion of that odd word, Craig. Your lines read smoothly with great rhyme. You paint a great picture of how sadly man destroys most everything over time & will do the same if he ventures to colonize such places as Mars. Thanks for sharing. Jan

Thanks very much, Jan. Yes, it's astounding nobody seems to take into consideration it being just more of the same. Most grateful - Craig

Hi Craig. I agree with you completely. Why not just revive this planet? Why go off and ruin another planet. Neither Mars nor people who ruined this planet deserve it. It is the wealthy saying "I can escape and you can't" so they can feel superior. I had one meter suggestion. See below. Thank you for sharing

I had a bit of trouble with the meter here. it's does not seem like a stressed syllable. Check out if replacing it with what after replacing the comma with a semicolon. Just a thought

"Our Earth is dying, it's a sorry fact"

"Our Earth is dying; what a sorry fact"

Thanks for pointing that out, Pam. I decided, after looking at it a while, I wasn't happy with the "sorry fact" bit either way, so I've changed the last half of the line. I think the scansion is better now. Cheers, Craig

Hi, Craig,

Thank you for sharing this latest word with us. The Ecopoiesis of Mars will not be easy, and since the planet is Sooooooo Far away, I wonder how many of us will be able to go. Oh, wait. The 1% can afford to go - right?

Oh well. I don't think I'd look good in red, anyway,

Yep, I love the wry irony in this. In movies we portray aliens coming to Earth from other planets and they are acquisitive destroyers of life similar to locusts, and yet we learn the aliens are us.

Oh well, it's in our nature, yes? The meek will neither inherit the Earth nor anything from the loving family estate.

Great job friend, Craig.

Thanks so much, Gloria. Locusts is a good metaphor, I think. Most appreciated - Craig

This poem, The New Frontier, employs your new word and begins the debate on whether moving this show to Mars will benefit anybody. Private industries will get rich, naturally. We'll need to deplete the Earth to build foundation on Mars. Who am I kidding. The moon landing might not have been bunk, but everything about Mars will be an exaggeration or out and out lie. We are in the time of "I am Trump all day long and you're not."

Very true. We can take comfort in the fact that although we'll be long dead, because we can no longer breathe, our kind will survive to wreak havoc elsewhere. Oh, joy :) Cheers, Craig

Yes indeed we have a beautiful planet earth which we are slowly but surely damaging it seems- and now we hope to move on -if possible to another planet- our outlook need s to change drastically -well portrayed and that beautiful word 'ecopoiesis'- trying to pronounce it correctly !!!

Maybe if we would quit punching holes in the atmosphere the oxygen would stay here where it belongs. What sort of madness makes men want to leave this beautiful planet? Is it absolute madness or is it rich guys having fun with their new toys? God help us. :) Nancy

A very well-written poem and an excellent conclusion of what man are able to do with a perfect place as soon as they can lie their hands it. The chances are it will be damaged beyond repair quicker than we think.

Thanks very much, Sandra. You're quite right, but we never seem to hear this spoken of by the people who are planning our migration. Many thanks, Craig
