"She calls me Dad." Although this is in honor of the wonderful person your daughter is, it is also a tribute to yourself for accepting and loving her. This poem wonderfully expresses the bond that is formed between and father and his daughter. The rhyming is well done. Keep on writing - writing might be your "second daughter."

Wow thats cool, that you have been writing poetry for the last 70 years. Clearly very passionate about writing, even a small poem can make a huge impression. Enjoy what you have written, it is sad but sometimes the best poems come from the hardest times in our lives.

Like you, I have the sweetest daughters, although I have also the sweetest wife, plus a very close friend, I consider myself to be rich in assets, but perhaps poor in monetary terms, well done, an excellent work in rhyming couplets and articulate tetrametric rhyming couplets, well done, blessings, Roy

Excellent. Such a sweet poem. Nice pacing and sequencing. Rhyming is very good. I love the opening line, "My main Maine friend...". Since I've been on this site I have grown to appreciate rhyming poetry. Very good. Hugh

This one brought a tear - I have a daughter, four of them in fact, who encourage me as yours does you. I've not lost my wife of 50+ years, but I know that the girls would be right here to bring me through it. A fine poem, thank you for sharing it.
