Ooooh great new word! Top marks to you for your delightful ode to the misplaced energy and excitement of tangerine stained leaders and their subordinates/entourage.

Your galloping rhymes are impeccable Craig but this metronomaniacal Philly kept the pace haha (I'm flat out or stop / all or nothing LOL)...and I too have heard the moral for we shall surely reap our own rewards for effort or not LOL whatever they may be...obviously some quite unsavoury outcomes for those who choose that path.

I just lurve following you (when I'm here of course LOL)

I am gonna be one smart Jester haha

More sixers bouncing your way!!!

Cheers P

My gosh, you are a way too generous Philly -- hang on, what am I saying? Just the perfect amount of generous :) It's so nice to see you back, and I hope we are going to see plenty more from your pen....errrrr keyboard in the near future. Cheers, C

Great job, Craig. Excellent use of the word of the day, acharnement. I completely agree with the sentiments expressed, although, I do take umbrage with the following line:

"as Bill, the accountant, gets slightly excited, exchanging his pen for a gun"

In reality, I haven't been an accountant for over 25 years now, but I still laughed when I read this line.

Well done.

Bill

You might have hung up your pen, Bill, but surely you didn't exchange it for a gun?

So sorry for the slight on your good name. In the event my plans to become independently wealthy beyond my wildest dreams this year come to fruition, are you available to do my tax?

    Thanks for the fun review,

    Craig

You can be sure of that, my friend. I would be happy to do your taxes. I am willing to bet the Australian tax code is much simpler than the U.S. one.

You've used this word really well in this well rhymed hunting tale, where the hunters became the hunted, then become dinner. A good quote to finish on, very apt.
cheers,

Thanks very much, Valda. It's not an original theme for me, but I can't help myself every once in a while. I blame the book, too. Many thanks, Craig

Hi, Craig,

I read through this poem, word theme of the day, flowing in a story.
I'm so out of practice for reviewing poems, but I enjoyed reading. Could sense and relate to the darker, no compassion stirred, angle of the emotion embedded. A bit of contempt, sprinkled with a snicker of oh the irony, and a side recognition examined and discarded at the inner wonder of inner awful.

I recall a few news story, people hunting wild game for the thrill of hunting wild, or to poach game, getting ate by lions. Occupational/or hobby hazard ... or a rare stroke of serendipitous justice.

It goes along with a long list of news article headlines that I'd really have to dig deep to find any effs given.

Rapist gets nuts trapped in barbed wire...
Bully skins knees in playground...
Terrorist blows self up making bomb, family mourns...

My husband does a good job at keeping me grounded when it comes to the dangers of reducing others to their cardboard cutouts, but even he would give that one a shrug and a ... yeah, eff that guy.

Love your news headlines, Turtle. My reaction would be the same. I'll leave the "love those who do evil" up to those who are duty-bound to follow that little mantra - I say eff 'em. Not that I would hurt them myself, but I'll happily cheer and wave my flag from the sidelines. Thanks for the great review - Craig

A poignant and harsh write about words which were visible to the world by president's wife, I don't think I have known any other man and his family who continually put their foot in it. A well written poem full of great rhymes and cleverly selected words, love Dolly x

He is an embarrassment beyond words, Dolly. I've actually got to the point where I am starting to think that anyone who still manages to support this dufus deserves what they get. Many thanks, Craig

Aw that poor little lioness looks like she's feeling a little ill, and might be looking for a barf bag. Don't you think?

Excellent anapestic metre poem, Craig and that's just the right cadence to tear a little strip off those darned trophy hunters.

Excellent post and something to write about often, and frequently too.

I thought it was about time I tried turning my hand to writing about animal abuse. The response hasn't been too bad, so I might give it another go some time.

Thanks very much, Gloria - and appreciation too :)

    Cheers,
    Craig

Hi Craig,

This is a very nice piece indeed. Your chosen word fits in snuggly like a poacher in a lion's belly...

Easy to get the rhythm on this (not always easy here on FS!), topical and bizarrely amusing.

All the best

Thanks very much for the great comments, GMan. I was concerned about the line length, but I'm pleased you think it doesn't upset the rhythm. Most grateful - Craig

believe me, if I can find the rhythm, so can a blind, mute badger...
