Great read.

However, I got lost somewhere on who was saying what. In comes Diana, then who is Sara? Maybe a lot was fit into what was intended to be a short poem.

I'm sorry about your friend Ivan. Your writing is captivating.

Your verse tells a clear and painful story.
Well told, well written, well rhymed.

Oh my, I'm so sorry. I have had a number of friends die from cancer, including my sister, but none chose to end it before their time. I don't doubt some though of it. It always seems to get the good one. I am sorry too about your mom. That too is often a loss, who they were is forever lost. I do hope she is doing better. Rox

Wow what a poem and a half this is, diana. Some really powerful and deeply painful lines throughout, such as hemmed in by your doom, you plate our last dessert.

I've never experienced this from a friend or family member, but I expect I will.

And what a fascinating life, my land.

Superb job with sharing your pain. This is an amazing work of art.

Gloria

Hey Gloria... It was good and bad to write... but, life has given me an abundance of experiences. I've got a million of them... Not to be glib. But, this is one of them. As always thanks kiddo. yours, dana

Quite the amazing chronological poem telling of a happening , a moment in time . It totally represents today's society, especially large cities and high society, so much in a hurry, not time , always in a hurry, never taking a break, always in a hurry, a very good representation and I do applaud you. I gave you five because it was better than four.

Hello Diana,
You've put your finger on the pulse of life and loss
and written sensitively about tragic aspects of a
life of beauty and pain.
Couched in normal conversation of wine and food
is the deafening, almost incomprehensible decision.
Often, others have to make that decision for someone,
how generous his spirit to take that burden off others.
It seems to bring his life full circle, as he wanted it.
My best wishes to you
Robert

When I was 9 my mother had a psychotic break. Shortly after, she was diagnosed with Paranoid schizophrenia. That set my tone for my life to stay involved learning about mental illnesses. This was touching, honest and sincere and sad. I can't imagine what you must have felt but to be able to articulate it in this way takes strength and courage. "Sick to death of hearing myself complain," distracted he utters, "Hey D you want an espresso better yet French Champagne" In your work, I see and hear Acceptance of his diagnosis and Celebration of that the decision, not only to accept but to "Do" what it takes to take back his Power in what might be deemed as a Powerless situation and on his own terms! Thank you for sharing

Several issues are discussed here and they all make an impact. When someone who has no reason to be overly cheerful are, they are trying to soften the blow that they fera is going to knock you for a loop. When someone is facing a death that is not only assured, but is looming nearby, decides to not wait for it, but to end life on their terms, it is fruitless and perhaps even selfish for you to insist that they remain with you until the very end, mainly because you do not want to release them. This subject matter can be difficult for some, but it is not only important, it is instructive.

Wow. I wish I had a six-star review to share with you. Words escape me on what to write! What a gift you have in sharing your life with others. Your poetry speaks that truth. You've loved some wonderful characters and had to also watch them leave this earth! What a conflicting blessing/curse! Thanks for sharing your story/poem.
