Hey Craig, I really like this satirical comment in the Lune format. I'm interested in looking at different Lune entries to get an idea of how to better construct one. Have a great day!

Hi Craig, what a funny and witty line. Good use of the form with great word economy and the correct syllable count. I love that the narrator doubts himself in this poem about doubt. Lol

This is clever and fun. I like the illustration and the fortune cookie mystique. They DO tend to have more mystery in their message than predictions. Still we love fortune cookies. Great job. Good luck in the contest. Marilyn

Thanks very much, Marilyn. Fortune cookies are great fun. Although, I've never understood the one that says "this insert has a protective coating." That one just sounds a bit obscure to me, and possibly a little tacky :) Cheers, Craig

I would definitely that one sounds tacky. Maybe it was a slow day at the fortune cookie factory.

Hi, Craig,

I see we share the same feeling about Confucius. He did seem to say some very contrary things. Especially in his fortune cookies! This is a great entry for the Lune Poetry Contest. Good luck to you,

~patty~

Such an abrupt ending. Made me laugh. I want to explore the religion Confuciusism or Taoism. Those are the most peaceful of religions. It is a good entry for the contest. What a clever play on words. A healthy dose of doubt is good. Unhealthy not so good. Good luck in the contest. Thank you for sharing

Yes, if I were inclined to go looking for answers in religion, I think I'd go for one of those two as well, or perhaps Jainism. The "deference to authority" bit would not sit well with me though ;-) Many thanks, Pam. Craig

Or... Confucius might say, ThIs lune is confucsing ... or maybe not. It is fun and thought provoking and colorful and slightly puzzling. I doubt that doubt is bad. I think you agree with me on that point. I hope you will elaborate a bit. You have certainly piqued my interest. A lovely and curious lune properly written and displayed. I imagine it will do well in this contest. Good luck! MM

Reluctantly, I'll elaborate. I say reluctantly, because you might be disappointed - perhaps the "mystery" version is more interesting ;-) Anyway, there are two levels at work in my mind. The first is just a thought I found amusing - that is Confucius standing there, in that inscrutable manner I imagine him having, uttering the profound statement, "doubt is bad - or is it?"

On another level, I think it fits in with my view that in most cases (though certainly not all), the world is better viewed in shades of grey rather than black and white. I think being in no doubt about something often leads to extremism of one form or another. There, you made me get all boring :)

Thanks for the kind words and good wishes, MM.

I knew it! So now the truth is out! Confucius wasn't just all that so sure of himself after all with his Confucius says all the time. He also had his moments of doubt and pain just like everybody else. Or is this Craig says? lol

Usually I try to space out the six distribution but this is just too good, so

Terrific. Now win this contest, dammit. :)

I think you have hit the nail on the head, Gloria. Do you think there's a chance he's vastly overrated, because he speaks in riddles? A bit like the Deepak Chopra of 500 BC? I hope not, I find his inscrutability somewhat appealing, and I love reading fortune cookies. Not a hope in hell of winning, but I do appreciate the lovely shiny stars and the very kind comments :) Craig

A very well-written Lune. Never doubt your abilities, but when you doubt if you are about to do the right thing, then don't do it, that is a sign of your inner conscious that you should not do what you are about to do.

Oh, my goodness. That is so funny. This is supposed to be a serious contest and here you go again. I absolutely love it. Sad to say, it may be my favorite thing that you have done. The contrast between Confucius's words of wisdom and your wit is what makes this poem special.
Once again, thanks for making me laugh. Do you laugh as you write them? What a fun life you have. You see humor everywhere.

I must have missed the note about being serious - whoops! The great thing about seeing most things in life as absurd is, you really don't have to try very hard. Many thanks for the wonderful review, Debbie -- although I am deeply, deeply hurt that you find my ramblings to be the opposite of Confucius' wisdom!

    Yes, I'm joking ;-)

Thanks for the wonderful rating, and more importantly, for enjoying my poem.

Hi CDR, he just might. He might also say "whenever there is doubt there is definitely doubt."

Your Lune entry has the required syllables and lines. Best of luck in the competition.
