Aw, such a pretty animal. The water buffalos always remind of girls in swiss braids with their horns.

Good thing the animals are fighting back because trophy hunting is beyond a worthless sport. Take photographs or hunt on video games.

A super good not-a-sonnet, Craig with a strong social commentary.

I can't think of a reason not to say it. If I could, I'd be cheering from the sidelines. Many thanks, Craig

Those people, Craig, who trophy hunt ought to be rounded up & placed in a 'preserve' then have a number on them for others to find them and. . . Oh no, that would be getting down to their level & they are at the lowest of the low. It breaks my heart to see any of the magnificent animals having their lives end like this. And to post pictures . . . that is unforgivable. You did a great job with your acrostic--should have entered it in the acrostic contest. Thanks for sharing & caring. Jan

I don't think it would do well in a contest, but thanks for the kind words of support, Jan. Glad we're of one mind on what should happen to people who kill for fun. Cheers, Craig

Well done... I never could get into killing for the sport of it either. Such fitting end to the narcissistic killer in your acrostic. And as for the author's notes, I think the challenge/exercise a worthy form of muse. Anything that sparks the artistic motor.

A heartbreaking photo and acrostic to bring to mind the barbarity of humans to animals. This beautiful beast... gone... only a monster could be proud of that.

I got a little confused when the poem switched from 'he' to 'she' and I re-read it several times. I think your footnote clarified it a bit. I think the 'she' part is referring to the lions tearing apart the poachers. A fitting end. No more poaching for them. Marilyn

Agree on lots of things. And the good part is that the things we don't agree on, don't really matter.

Paul Anthony Jones' book, "The Cabinet of Linguistic Curiosities," is quite a book, Craig. If you enjoy reading and/or writing in archaic, old world English, it'll be a boon to you in the long run.
It's quite an undertaking to write a poem a day -- everyday.
However, with the proper motivation and, more importantly, some good inspiration, you can do it.
Many don't like to read acrostic poems but I do.
Especially when they rhyme, as yours does.
Good abab rhyme scheme.
Thanks for sharin'...

Many of the words seem pointless and boring, to be honest, which makes it hard to write a decent poem. But there are a few gems in there that make it worthwhile.

Thanks for the kind words, Dean, and congrats on your well-deserved win in POM.

    Cheers,
    Craig

I must comment on this piece. This is Divine Retribution. I hope the fear and terror they felt as their nemesis approached will follow them to the hereafter. You are right in your opinion of Trophy Hunters, they are all wasted space. They breathe air that ought to be for free spirits, not murdering gun freaks. Every word you have presented here I totally endorse. Well done, well said. Cheers Cass
