So terribly sorry for your loss. Your poem is like thunder riding accross the page. The reader feels that drum beat. Good luck in the contest. A strong contender.

This was difficult to write but I find it helpful to put feelings into words. Sharing keeps her memory alive. Thank you for reading and the kind comments.

    Have a good weekend.

I don't know how to overcome something like that. There are no words I know to offer other than she's always with you. I hope you can see her in the sunshine so you can start to appreciate the sunshine because everyday doens't have to gloomy. (It's okay to have gloomy days though) But I do hope you feel her in the sunshine and know it's okay to smile.

No parent should ever have to bury their child.

I feel terrible for your loss. So many will tell you to think about the good times. But that's a two edged sword. Sometimes they bring a tearful smile while other times they hurt the heart when you think that you will not be able to make more of them.

A very well-written heartfelt and sad poem about the loss of a child no matter the age it is a very hard blow for a parent to.lose a child through death. It is a sadness we cannot easily overcome.

This poem, Sadness, attempts to discard that burden of regret, second-guessing, and unconsolable loss in order to rise up and walk on. Press on.

Dear Author,
This poem was very well written and conveys very effectively the hold that grief can have on one. The repetition of ,'sadness' over and over really echoes the stubbornness of this most debilitating, yet necessary, emotion following great
tragedy.
I've just now read your, 'author's notes' and see you have suffered an unimaginable
loss. Yet the healthiest way is to work right through it; if only you could, 'ditch it.!'
Elisabeth Kubler Ross, a famous thanathologist, said there are three stages to grieving; DABDA; everyone does it in their own way, time etc. Let no one ever tell you, 'It's time now to stop.' You might like to look up her books.
Wish you strength and hope to get though this time.
Warmest wishes,
Deirdre Anne

You are so welcome. I almost took a class given by Kubler Ross when I lived in NYC but missed it. She has written some very helpful stuff on grieving. It's a terrible experience, but it does have a beginning and an end.
    Best,

WOW! What a powerful message you expressed in a great, poetic way, Mystery Author. I really like the way you formatted your lines. The repeated line 'ditch it' adds emphasis to the words right before it in each use. The art choice is a perfect pairing with your well-chosen words. Your notes are heart-breaking. I will pray for you & your family. Take care. I know your faith will see you through. Best wishes in the contest & your recovery. I know you will never forget your precious daughter. Jan
