Beautiful. I love how you began with "Our" sun. Your second line created a powerful transition to the 3rd line - emphasizing your overall message, as your title describes. Beautiful and powerful imagery!

There, the sun shines for six straight months out of a year while the other six are immersed in sort of a dull, grey, dirty looking darkness.
Weird, and a difficult place to sleep.
Nicely composed Lune.

Very cool poem. It throws the mind into hysteria upon first read and for some reason the mind denies that the sun is shining but you are absolutely correct and it is absolutely true that the sun always shines, even while we sleep. This is an excellent entry for the contest. Good luck.
