Dear Brett,
This was a good poem allowing the reader to feel the pain all loves can bring.
Particularly strong were the last two lines of 1st verse;
'We meet in the middle of a bridge that just won't burn
Clinging to each other past the point of no return.'
Those lines already spell out the beginning of the heartbreak,
Warmest wishes,
Deirdre Anne

Glad you enjoyed these lyrics. Aren't heartbreaks the only real thing cheaters can ever hope to experience? At least, in Country songs they are. Appreciate you taking the time to read these lyrics and write a review.

This is an excellent poem and I think just about everyone who reads it can identify with the pain. It sounds as if neither person in the poem is free to be in love with the other one, but does that matter when strong emotions are involved? Much luck in the contest with this fine entry. Marilyn

Glad you enjoyed these lyrics. Appreciate you taking the time to read them and pen a review. Yes, I would agree. Most people can probably relate to this situation. Seems cheating has become rather fashionable in a lot of cases. Also makes a real good topic to write about in a Country lyric.

This is a beautiful poem. I think we all experience this feeling at one time or another during our lifetime - we are human and sometimes our heart wanders to a place where it is forbidden especially when we already share a matrimonial bed with someone else...the heartache can last forever.
Well done and best of luck with the contest!
Monica

Glad you enjoyed these lyrics. Appreciate you taking the time to read them and pen a review. Yes, suppose many people do feel these emotions from time to time, especially if they cheat. Heartaches always make a good topic for a Country lyric.

A very well-written love poem, a love that should not have been. The lovers was not conmpletely honest with one another and their love ends up in heartaches and pain not only for the tow of them but the ones they have cheated on too.

Glad you enjoyed these lyrics. Isn't that the truth? All cheating does is create pain and heartaches for everyone involved. They also make for good Country songs. Appreciate you taking the time to read these lyrics and pen a review.

This poem expressed the pain of one way love a little too well. It was clever the way you concluded the poem with the opening because that was the core of the problem: shattered hope.

Glad you enjoyed these lyrics. True, one of the core problems when it comes to cheating is that those involved aren't usually free to commit to each other. The topic does lend itself well to Country songs though. Appreciate you taking the time to read these lyrics and pen a review.

Good read, interesting and educational, two people in a complicated situation, going in the wrong direction, need... to re-asses ones type of love, e.g. brotherly love, neighbourly love, etc. etc. to restrain ones self, easy to read, well presented, a person seeking answers on bended knees, could find comfort by saying a prayer or moving on, sign of a lot of confusion and emotional harm, including self harm, poem flows, a lot of people can relate to this experience, poem flows, matching image, good background colour, good topic.
Good Luck!!

There something about a broken heart one might for give in due time yet that p[painful hear pone never forget.
In due time I met a wonderful man.
