Brett,

I really hate this entry -- 'cause I have a poem in this contest, too. heehee

This is so sweet and soft and full of a wonderful kind of pain. I am not a fan of adultery - though it seems to be widely accepted these days, but I am a fan of your writing. *smile* Thanks and good luck!

I looked to see if this was listed under the tragic love contest. It's pretty sad alright.
On a philosophical level, I wish that humans had more self control. That is the true tragedy here. Why do passionate drives have to ruin people's lives? Are we that weak? I think that the answer is yes. They should write poetry or something. Get their minds on higher matters (ha).
Your poem is beautifully written. I like that they meet in the middle of the bridge that just won't burn.
The repeat line is a good example of form following function. It's an example of the narrator's repeated behavior and thought patterns.
Thanks for sharing this thought provoking poem. You certainly sent me philosophizing.

This sounds like an infatuation and this kind of love can destroy your self esteem and make you unhappy in the end, especially if it is a secret forbidden love, love Dolly x

This is very musical. Is seems like both parties crossed the line. The narrator doesn't seem able to break away. His refrain is "and that's where my heartaches begin. Sometimes it's hard to break away from an affair, as the narrator has discovered. Excellent refrain and rhyme. The feeling really comes across. It does have the country music flavor. I was a little puzzled by the line down there by its lonesome "I didn't know you weren't free to fall in love with me." Excellent entry for the love poetry contest. judi

Brett!

This is awesome. It sounds like it could be a song. Are you still doing the songwriting club? You know about FanMusic, right? Are you a member there? I'm not just Flower Power was going to have a video but the illustrator didn't follow my stories. We choose Bryan Taylor to do the music. Do you know him? He's an awesome guitarist.

Hey, good luck!!

This is pretty good. I love the message of this. It sounds like the lyrics of a broken hearted song. Forbidden love I believe truly does hurt. I guess at the time it probably doesn't. It's all of the aftershocks and everyone else affected is where the pain comes from. I like how you presented this well written poem. Well done Brett!

Interesting poem, friend. I thought you were the more honourable, bonds of marriage kind of guy. But I can see the sentiment and good construction throughout. Good luck in the contest.

Yes, in real life I most certainly believe in being a one woman man. Like those cheating songs though. They seem to resonate with most people. Appreciate the comments and the review.

Yes. It is lyrical Brett. I was thinking It was a song or would be a good song. Are you a musician? You have a really good set of lyrics. I am giving you my last six star rating on one condition. If this becomes a song please send me the link to the video or the video itself. Good luck in the contest. Thank you for sharing
