Hi Bill,
I don't know how I missed this one. I enjoyed reading it very much. Your words flow & they made me smile. Lucky for roadrunner coyotes can't call. I liked the alliteration of 'c' & 'l'. Thanks for sharing a funs series. Jan

"Roger Rocket Roadrunner. I love it! Great image and the poem is fun. Great lines:
"breaks the surly bonds of Earth
to touch the face of his gods,
which wait in outer spaces
where speed has no known limits,"

Meanwhile the lowly coyote looks longingly at cats, small dogs, rodents and anything that does not move too fast. At this point in his life he will eat whatever does not run away, at least not too fast.

What a great name Roger "Rocket" Roadrunner. Makes him sound like a space conqueror. Fun bit to bring in the coyotes. Quite a ways from outer space! His gods are speed and freedom--Fitting for a space hero. Great cartoon work for your illustration. You might try to avoid using both knows and known. judi

I liked the sound of it until you pointed it out. I ?ve replaced it with the more grammatically acceptable but decidedly boring ?has?.

This is an excellent piece of whimsical writing about a creature which was the scourge of the lizards, geckos, baby birds and tarantulas in my back yard. My house is not far from a NASA training facility. Your writing got my attention and made me think. We even heard coyotes howling on some nights. Too bad Acme wasn't in the picture, then it would be complete. Well done.
