Very nice indeed! The rhyming pattern is specific and not forced in any manner.

I really liked the first stanza and enjoyed reading the entire poem.

Once again, you have proven yourself to be a Master Poet!

Thanks, Douglas, for your rave review. I appreciate it very much.
Only if I were a master typist, too.(haha) It would make life a lot easier.

This is a beautifully written memorial poem to honour service men and women. A man of honor has incurred
A sense of duty never blurred
To battle for his fellow men
With fortitude 'til the end.
Patriotism far from slurred.
A great club entry. Nicely done.

This poem, A Man of Honor, finds the men and women who will go out and fight the fight needed to be won. They go fit, they go broken, and they go, sometimes, without returning.

Thanks, Bill for the nice review. And some return not the same men as they when the left.

Hi Joan,
So nice of you to write a poem for those men and women who serve our countries abroad.
Last night, it saddened me to see Christmas decorations lit up on at least ten homes. I think they should have waited until at least today to plug in.
My own father passed away on New Year's Eve of 2019. He was 95 years old. In World War II, he went all the way to Berlin. But he never ever talked about the war.
Your poem is about the bravery our servicemen and women showed. If not for them, we might be speaking German!
My favorite lines,
"To battle for his fellow men
With fortitude 'til the end."

Nicely penned!
Hugs,
Kimbob

Thanks for the review. I agree. I won't decorate for Christmas until the Friday after Thanksgiving. But stores keep decorating earlier and earlier. Some stores started decorated right after Halloween.

This is a very well written and beautiful poem you have penned for our men and women of the military on this Veteran Day! You used very good descriptive words for your potlatch poetry entry. love and blessings, Teri

Many who enter the military during times of peace have no expectation of being engaged in combat of any sort. Such was the case when I entered the Air Force in 1960. I felt confident that I would face no danger then cam the Cuban Missile crisis, later came President Kennedy's murder. Each incident threatened my expectation of a peaceful four year enlistment. I appreciated my avoidance of any violent action, I yet would have been ready as aI am sure that any one of my fellow service would have been.

You are most welcome. Acts of heroism are almost never, if ever thought out, they are most often the immediate realization of what needs to be done and the ultimate reaction thereafter.

    Janet,
Thanks a lot for your review. I never understood why people were so bad to Vietnam veterans

As we all know sacrifice is the pinnacle of patriotism. We feel great to recognise and thank the military for keeping us safe. I enjoyed the poem. Thanks for sharing.
