MY Mom flew me out to Vegas years and years ago....I was in my twenties. She lectured me on everything from pickpockets to rapists and certainly on how quickly my money would be "Hoovered" from my hand if I didn't exercise some judgement. Imagine my delight when ten minutes after settling in and arriving on my first casino floor ever I went to the dollar slots (I don't listen well) and asked the girl at the change kiosk what machine she would recommend I try....she pointed to one of fifteen or so in a circler and I walked over and with the confidence of an idiot inserted three dollar coins and pulled the lever....round and round and round and.....WHAT? WHAT SO THREE RED SEVENS MEAN? Jackpot that's what! $1053.00 came a tumbling outta that machine....with the clank clank clank of an old machine gun......Holy Jumpin' Catfish! I hooted for my Mom (a few aisled way on the nickel machines) and she came running! I don't know if she wanted to whack me for not listening or hug me for paying for the trip and everything we could have wanted....but it was the exact oppsite of your experience! That's the great news. The bad news is I'm 64 and have spent every trip to every Casino trying to recreate the "magic"....HAH! Not to be I say!

It is hard to recreate the magic of any memory. They are never as good as the original. Thank you for your wonderful review and excellent rating

You will need to watch out you don't get addicted and learn to quit when you're ahead. It is on of the hardest things to do. I mean why stop when you are winninh and then when you start to lose why stop because your luck will surely change. If you want a gamble, buy shares in the casino.

With the photo choice, and the obvious natural beauty surrounding the casino, I thought you were going to talk about the irony of a casino in such a beautiful area. Instead, sadly, you spoke of the true to life story of a gambler in the midst of a sleepless night. The poem is well done and exposes the feelings of a person who gambles, to a tee. I love the photo. I like the way you wrote in a free verse style. It fit the dialogue of the narrator very well. Thanks for sharing.
Take care, Jesse

Hi Jesse. This was more about being bi polar than being a gambler. Impulsive. I have just gambled casually in my lifetime except for that one time. I hate to gamble now. Just very boring. Good need. Thank you for your wonderful review and excellent rating

I did not realize that. Thank you for the clarification.

A very well-written poem about your Casino experience. The one time I was at a Casino, I won about R200.00 and take my sister and mother who took me there for a meal and we went home, I never tried my luck again. Lol.

It seems like better odds just to throw yourself on the kindness of strangers than trying your luck at the plan to lose casino... I have had the bad luck to have this happen. Yours, diana

Hello Pamusart
I say that you have a true story that would also give me a sleepless night it's clever of how someone gave you a dollar.
I borrowed another.
Made 37 dollars.
(was that enough for your bus fare back to
San Francisco.

In my opinion, a charming and fun write - creates the musing that the writer may gamble the $37.00 dollars too, instead of paying the return fee. If so, I hope she won enough for the trip home and then some. A clever write, leaving the conclusion to the reader - smooth in construction and texture - I thoroughly enjoyed my read...

Hi there;
Ah...the trials of a gambler. You are lucky you managed to win enough money to get home. Lake Tahoe is a great place to vacation, but I wouldn't want to be stranded there.

Must have been a while for you to be able to make it home with $37/-not a gambler myself but do gamble with grandkids for ice cream when playing scrabble with them.
