I married my best friend. Course that was two years ago and I lived with him for fourteen years before we were married....I'd had a "no go" marriage before, as had he, so we danced around the idea of love, both afraid to jinx what we had. Suddenly (I am a slow learner I guess) it occurred to me that I was way to old for that "every good girl loves a bad boy" complex and thought maybe my best friend is just who I'd like to spend the rest of my life with! Not a bad idea all in all! (smile)

I like the way this poem celebrates the break through with internal rhyme, so we get romance, chance and dance all together and one can feel the earth move. As the relationship takes off.

Such an enjoyable poem! My hubby and I started out as friends. We didn't think we had enough time to build a romantic relationship before his ship would return to California, but God had other ideas.

In my opinion, a thoroughly delightful poem in story, rhyme and rhythm - I enjoyed it tremendously, especially because of your 39 year history with one man. Congratulations! Most of my marriages began the same way, as friendships. It was unfortunate, though, they were such excellent actors before marriage and became themselves afterward. I would say you really "lucked out," with your 39 years. In total, I've been married 12 years, but sadly, to 5 different men - [a long and frustrated sigh]...
