This one brings on a good chuckle and I find it surprising that there is a teacher in the story who cannot tell the difference between an orange to a green bean. I have to thank for this one, happy to have read it indeed and I thank you for the entertainment. My oldest son also is 54 and as a child his fascination was matches and such, even accidentally set the kitchen afire, he was 12 or 13 could have been a lot worse so we were fortunate there. Where he lives now the firehouse is voluntary only and he has 24 years or so as a volunteer fireman there...and like you there are those things I didn't know and just as well...many thanks again, I enjoyed the chuckle...Dinah

LOL! I loved that ending, don't we all do that?? LOL I loved his persistence in denying throwing the green beans. He wasn't lying! Fabulous flash fiction story. Well done and good luck in the contest. Sandra xxxx

Thank you Sandra for this excellent review. He is still a very literal person. It's black or white to him. I'm sure his children are keeping him on his toes. haha

This is hilarious. Yes, you can laugh about it now. But when it first happened not so sure. You did a good job telling this story & it fits the prompt well. I could 'see' this unfold as I read it. good job & best wishes. Jan

Ha ha ha ha ha ...yes kids are so literal....what was for lunch? Tossed salad? Ha ha ha .
Still laughing. And now he has eight children!!! That's funny in itself. My son calls me asking what to do with his kids.. My reply, "Are they in the oven yet?"
Ha ha ha this was so good
Good luck

if you were not throwing green bean - beans.
My daughter is just like this. She's a very literal child. Everything is black & white with no room in between. lol
Nice little piece.

Ha! This story was great, how he denied the throwing of peas but admitted to carrots, it was humorous and enjoyable, a worthy entry for the contest, good luck

I had to giggle as I read this short story. I can see this happening to our grandson one day. He is that type of young man too. Very cute words and picture. I enjoyed reading and reviewing it. Blessings, Teri

Green beans or carrots make little difference--except in the eyes of a child.
Sussing the difference provided the clarity.
As for your writing, consider how you treat dialogue.
Consider starting a new paragraph every time a new speaker speaks.
This isn't a hard and fast rule, but if you follow it, you won't go wrong.
Peace, Lee

Thank you Lee for your thoughtful review and excellent suggestions.
I looked at story again and added new paragraphs for a new speaker.
I've written a few short stories before but not with dialog.
Thank you

Benjamin grew up and became a father and probably hates when they pull shenanigans any where... Especially boys. Thanks so much for your read... I enjoyed it. yours, diana
