This was adorable, and a great lesson. I was right there with you until the end. I would have totally laughed when my son corrected the item instead of the behavior, so good job keeping your cool!

Dear Anonymous Author;

Got to love a kid who tells the truth! I think we have all had those moments as parents when our children are just too literal. Of course, we can't laugh, and yes, we can put a curse on them for children just like them.

Well told. Thank you for sharing and good luck in the contest,

~patty~

This tale of the ten-year-old, A Veggie Tale (nice title), finds one of those rare occassions when our kid is actually guilty of something. The rationalization, that green beans never left his hands in anger, is a defense we're more likely to hear from the White House.

Hahahahaaaaaaa, this is a lovely curse because Benjie sounds and behaves like the most wonderful and natural ten year old on the planet.

That said, I truly enjoyed the story. It could have been my own Mum talking about me. Amazing that he's now fifty but sou still remember all this. I hope I'll be able to do that when my son turns fifty - doubt it though, FanStory takes up too much of my memory storage, lol.

An excellent read. My comments and suggestions are below.

A few minutes later, I arrived at the school ~ this strikes me as too soon, unless you were already at the school. It would take more than just "a few minutes" to arrive at your son's school, surely?

While listening to Miss Adam's accusation and Benjie's stanch(staunch) denial

Thank you so much for the wonderful review and kind suggestions. I only lived a mile from the school and so it was just a few minutes away but I changed it to "a short time later" as no one would know the distance but me.

I greatly appreicate your fun review.

This is too funny. Just what kids would do. I found no errors and have no suggestions for improvement so I am worthless, but don't think it needs any improvement. I hope you do well in the contest.

I enjoyed reading you story about Benjamin. It brought back memories for me as I had a similar experience with my daughter at school, she is now 58 and we still laugh about it.
I wish you good luck in the competition. Best wishes Jen.

Kids will be kids. I like the humor when he says, "carrots." Wow,
they had fun and yet the teachers were mad. Great story and photos.

Now, your son has children and he gets to coach the kids in their
food fights. Hope you enjoy your family times. flylikeaneagle

Your story hit home my niece's daughter stands up to what she says to a point to where she verbally stomps off accusing everyone no one believe her, Coming to find out she was lying. But it 4 apples instead of 6 apples was eaten. Hopefully she will to be as old as your son. Great writing.
