Yes, Natutalists estimate without bees and insects, the wood will die quite rapidly. It's amazing how intricately woven nature is, interdependent and knitted so perfectly. Your growth as a poet has been exponentially prolific since you first came to the site. Well done Pam, blessings, Roy

Hi there;

So many people refuse to believe the claim that bees are becoming extinct. It will be a wake-up call to them when fruits, vegetables, and other natural foods become expensive because they are in short supply.

You created a lovely poem to tell the story of the vanishing bees,

~patty~

Hi patty. How are you? Your words say you think the poem is excellent. But your rating is four stars. Was there something I should have done to make it excellent
? Thank you for your wonderful review

Uh oh. This happens to me when I run out of sixes. I will fix it. I meant it to be a five-star rating,

Hi Pam, a well written poem on a very relevant subject. Good rhyme scheme in aabb etc. maintained throughout and the whole is a very interesting write. The situation in UK is the same - honey bees are on the decrease. We need to stop using pesticides. Well done and warm regards Dorothy xx

This work has reached the exceptional level

You are right that without pollinating insects, primarily bees, most of humanity's land-based food supply would vanish. Even before then, pesticides are getting into the food crops; and, contrary to their manufacturer's claims, end up as carcinogens and fertility busters in our bodies.

For instance, glyphosate, the principal active ingredient in Monsanto's Roundup, has been proven to be present in nearly everyone in the United States because over ninety percent of corn, soybeans, and canola (rapeseed) is now genetically modified to survive treatment with Roundup; and those ingredients are present in nearly all processed, prepackaged foods. The high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) now used to sweeten soda and many other products, as it is cheaper than real sugar, is liver-damaging on its own, but also is entirely GMO as well.

Don't think you can escape by turning to "diet" soda and anything else sweetened with aspartame, as that was invented to be ant poison and is so highly carcinogenic that it killed my wife exactly seventeen years ago today from a cancer so aggressive that she never knew she had it. An autopsy revealed her whole body was riddled with cancer and fungus. She was just fifty-five.

The traitors to humanity that run companies which make such poisons, the well bribed politicians that don't legislate against them, and the entrenched regulators that ignore the truth are responsible for all these crimes. President Trump wants to reverse that; but the "deep state" and its leftist ideologue cronies -- including the major news media -- are so busy obstructing him that he has not yet accomplished that part of his agenda.

Those who willfully destroy beehives are another matter entirely. Clearly, the penalty for such crimes needs to be significantly stiffened.

Thank you for raising awareness with this post.

One bother: In line 2, you refer to a "late summer breeze" in the midst of a stanza about spring. How about "light warming breeze" (or something similar)?

Oh wow. Good catch Walkerman. I will take a look. Thank you for your wonderful review and so much for the sixth star. I really appreciate that. Some pesticides used in the US were already banned in Europe. Sad situation. Take care

You are most welcome. Yes, the American FDA and CDC have long been corrupted by "Big Agra" and "Big Pharma"; and American senators and congresspeople do NOT represent those who elected them in these matters. None of them care about the harm they are doing. Trump wants to change as much of that as possible, but the resistance is slowing his efforts. At least we don't have Hillary, or the destruction of the bees and many other nasty effects of leftist policies would have become unstoppable. -- Mike

Walkerman. I just want to be sure you are aware of this. Bear?s Ears National Monument, a National Park in Utah was shrunk by 85%. Only 15% of the original land remains. Lots of wildlife will die including bees. How does taking land away from our national parks to be used for drilling for oil and gas help the bees. Millions could die. This shrinkage is due to an executive order by trump

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/12/03/donald-trump-slash-size-national-parks-utah-allow-drilling/amp/ump.

I think one other park is in a similar situation the other park impacted is the Grand Staircase Monument. Cheers

Thank you. I knew there was debate about this but missed that Trump had signed the order. I avoid Google for its spying and leftist tilt to search results, but found and read the whole story in Wikipedia's thorough article on Bear's Ears National Monument.

I agree that the land in question should be protected for several reasons, including the possible threat to wildlife. Trump's justification for this action is that the federal government has been taking too much land away from the states; and, indeed, it is part of the infamous Agenda 21 to do that until the entire population of the country is crowded into cities on or near the East Coast, with all else designated as protected wilderness -- actually playground for the self-appointed "elites" running the world. In returning that land to Utah, Trump considers himself as reversing (or, at least, slowing) that nefarious process.

The problem in this case is that the land never should have been taken from the Native American tribes that regard it as sacred and were preserving it accordingly. In short, making this sparsely inhabited land into a large National Monument was probably the ONE thing that Mr. O did right, though probably for the wrong reasons of his own. In other words, this was the wrong place for Trump to reverse an Obama Executive Order.

It now remains to be seen whether the three major lawsuits filed to prevent the shrinkage accomplish anything. Personally, I hope they succeed. If not, then I hope the State of Utah will designate at least some of the returned land as restricted park land in whatever way can be done under their own state constitution.

We now know that ALL nuclear plants in America are disasters waiting to happen if the electric grid fails and they cannot cool their reactors once their diesel-powered back-up generators run out of fuel. We also don't need any more nuclear bombs. Thus, ceasing uranium mining in that area is, to me, minor loss. Also, we have enough oil elsewhere, so do not need to open the land in question to conventional drilling. SLANT or horizontal drilling from beyond the boundaries would not affect either the beauty of the land or its wildlife, so that could still be allowed.

In short, I am on YOUR side in this matter. -- Mike

I could tell you more if you are interested. He is rescinding the Clean Water act and hiding or burying water pollution reports. Maybe Wikipedia will have something about that
reply by WalkerMan on 22-May-2018
I agree that is a topic worthy of research on its own, and Wikipedia will not be enough. I would need to look at more primary sources. I am a professional researcher, so I can do it; but not right away, as I have several major projects needing my attention right now -- including helping at least three other FanStorians to get their books published. Accordingly, it may be a while until I have time for such research; but I AM interested in the topic.

I do know that many laws are given misleading names to make them seem more beneficial than they really are, thus making them both easier to pass and harder to alter or replace later. The "Affordable Care Act" is a prime example. That's why more research is warranted on this new topic.

In any case, we should continue this discussion via PMs, as it is disproportionately stretching out this part of your reviews. -- Mike

What kind of a world will it be without the sweetness of honey? Man has taken so much for granted- he needs to stop and take a good look at what's happening to our natural resources - including the little honeybee. You've written a very thought provoking and eloquent piece. Well done.

I like this. I like the message of this. I had no idea that bees were being poisoned. I must say that I do enjoy honey. Thanks for educating me on something that I was unaware of and shining the light on this dilemma. Great job Pam and well done.

So true, Pam. Honeybees are on the decline and of course without them we're in big trouble, and the least of it is honey.

Excellent social commentary in good metre and rhyme. Keep them coming. :)

Pam my friend, I admire your consistent endeavors to highlight man's ingratitude to the environment he lives in; with the current rate of destruction, he's bound to commit suicide soon; wonderful reflections in meaningful verses and as always, perfect rhymes; I thank you for sharing.

A very well-written poem about the importance of bees in our daily life. We have a tea tree bush that was always buzzing with bees. Suddenly the bees are gone and thre bush seems to die.
