This well-written, heart-wrenching poem vividly describes the mindset,
the specific thoughts, of someone who's very down, unhappy, at
the depths of pessimism.

This is a great poem and I can feel the poets heartache and find it very relatable. I like the rhythmic sway of the poem and thought the picture suited the poem. Thank you for sharing.

You have written a vivid and meaningful verse that flows along oozing pity. I like how you started each stanza with the word. . If.. There are a lot of .. what ifs.. in life. It is too bad we do not know the answers to those what if questions. Well done.

Hi there,
Your poem is well-written and moves with a fluidity that is wonderful in poetry. The message is clear and a very common state of affairs. Too many people have to paste a smile on to succeed in their daily lives. No one wants to listen to their problems.
And then at the end of the day, they can take off the mask and let their emotions flow.
Thank you for sharing,
~Mustang Patty~

"Pity Party", is an extremely well-written and thought-provoking piece. This talented poet's work has the golden threads of truth woven through every line. To me, this is a six, but unfortunately, I only have fives left.

You certainly are a very accomplished writer to be able to convey the sentiments expressed in this poem, so well. So often when one reads poems about "self pity", and I've read a few recently, the author tries present it as something else. Not so with your excellent poem. You are blunt and to the point. Pls accept this as a sincere compliment.

This is BRILLANT (not screaming) just excited to read something so fresh and exciting to read. I know it leaked with tragedy and pain and yet it made me want to read. Beautiful job. yours, diana

there is no pity in the poetry, which is well written and moves smoothly from beginning to end. the rhyme scheme works -- the pacing is fine and the logic it conveys is well communicated. this poetic endeavor can be judged by the quality of the poetic product or by the need to disparage. i vote for the quality of the product.

Hi Boogienights, seven very well thought out stanzas on a sombre subject. I've not heard the term Pity Party before - I rather like it. I also like the stanza form - it flows well and the first 2 lines of each stanza repeated at the end of each stanza works well - gives the work rhythm. The protagonist in this work has low self esteem which has been expressed well and cleverly. Well done - warm regards Dorothy x

Wow one can definitely relate to this one when you are a woman who has ever had a time of depression as I am sure most of us have had. I loved and chuckled at the book papers being lined on the bottom of the bord cage! Very clever. Nice one. Fluff
