This is a very lovely tribute to your Grandfather and the garden he was so proud of. I remember well what it was like with my Grandmother and her garden and the hat she wore to work in sun. Brings back so many memories. Sherman541

This is a lovely poem about a formal garden. One of the most beautiful gardens I ever saw was one owned by a florist shop owner in California. Patricia

I do love formal gardens, they provide peace. It is a different type of person, a rather refined person that appreciates gardens. I like the way the poem flows, I did not find any errors, none whatsoever, and I love the last stanza, yes a formal garden is largess from nature where one can almost talk to nature.

Thank you, Swampfox, for taking the tour of the Garden and your very kind praise. A formal garden invites one to relax and contemplate nature. My father spent hours in his talking to his roses. Rod

Your poem is very elegant and shows that you also know a lot about plants and flowers (at least the names...)
It's a great tribute to your father.
I have enjoyed reading it very much. Thanks.

Cheers, Rod G;
-oh yes, I really did enjoy it, and more so was enthralled and fervently mesmerized at sure demonstratively descriptive and definitively expressive imagery. This was achieved with the tempo of the metered rhythm of your writing.
-I was amused and words like plait, Well I've always used entwined or entangled and struggled with a single Syllable.
- All the still, all your rhyming words were contingent and supportive to the meaning and concept of each one of your lines, in comparison to the next line, completing your conceptual theme's validity and it's expeditious nature.
- Very easy to read as the fluidity of your enjambment was very well done.
-I have written some things in my father in the garden were I call one of them The Cup and the Fork Tine. My father would have a cup, a fork with one tine, a knife and a spray bottle Of clean water. He would eat out of the garden and hang up his cup with one tined fork on a peach tree limb. And that's where it hung for 20 years until we visited their property again. But the cup and fork were a good 10 feet higher in the tree.
-It's amazing and that's what makes this poem amazing, but alas, I am sad to say I have no more sixes in my coffer.
-Thanks for sharing this, Rod G, and take care and have a good one.

I'm not a flower kind of person, they actually remind me of death because I think that's what funeral homes smell like but they can be pretty. Who knows maybe if I saw this garden you talk about, it sounds amazing, you could change my mind.

A formal garden can make you glad you are alive. My father?s gave him a reason to live after he retired. Many thanks for sharing my poem. Rod
