Okay, alright, I am adding this to my bookcase - another poetry form I don't know but will learn, thanks to your wonderful notes. As for the poem itself? Beautiful, Yvonne. I especially love the alliteration of "whistling whippoorwill". :)

I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I love to hear whippoorwills at night. Thank you for a great review.

What a lovely and lyrical poem.... the sentiment is sweet, melancholy and appreciative... I loved the sentence "...Each night time brought him nearer,
the panes provided him a mirror..." because it seems as if the little whippoorwill is so joyous and full of life, that seeing his 'handsome' self in the window pane, adds to his enjoyment, and he can see the glorious reflection of his image... and can see what all of lucky souls who are graced by his presence have the opportunity to see! Delightful!

We used to have a whippoorwill every night. Each night, he would get closer to the house. I expected to find him on my bedpost any time. lol
Thank you for a lovely review.

I loved the personification of the bird and his unseen mate who is not a social or vibrant in character for she "seemingly is too sedate
to answer with an ardent trill" Fun read that evoked a smile.

Love this great poem about one of my favorite birds. They are not the prettiest bird in the world but I love the sounds that they make when they talk together. I loved the formatting and the color you used. Thanks for sharing and for the reminder about spring and summers.

Hello Yvonne,
This is a lovely poem of the whippoorwill
that is very nicely rhymed and reads smoothly.
I'm not sure if the alliterated words
must be consecutive or not,
but I like your poem exactly as it is.
I've never seen a whippoorwill in nature
they seem to be quite elusive.
Love the pale green presentation.
I hope you are well, my friend
Excellent

Thank you so much. Yes, I am doing okay after losing my mother May 4. She was 96.
We used to live in the woods, and every night, a whippoorwill would come closer to the house. I expected to see him on the bed post any time.

-Very nice image and presentation.
-Notes are appreciated.
-A good poem using effective
rhyme, meter, and observation of the whippoorwill.
-It is interesting how birds will look
at a reflection and think it is one of them.
-I liked your poem very much.

Thank you. I'm so glad you like it. Whippoorwills are sort of plain birds, but they have lovely voices.
-
You are welcome. They do have a nice sound, but I have never seen one!

One of the things I love about spring--opening the door in the morning and hearing the birds sing. Beautifully done, and you did a great job of bringing in the alliteration in each line. I especially like seemingly sedate. The female birds are just less flamboyant. Maybe they'd like to do some strutting too. Do you suppose he likes the window so he can see the reflection of his handsome self? Excellent rhyme.

Thank you for the great review. I imagine he fancies his image in the glass. I have a cardinal that loves to look in my passenger side rear view mirror when my car is home. lol
