This poem, New Author Tips, seems to rebuke those who rant against perceived evils in their poetry (or prose). I guess a warning that they will be littering the page with f-- ing and motherf-- ing would be appreciated.

Excellent commentary! You might take some heat from the angry bitter crowd who think you're trying to silence them. Your poem rhymed, it made sense, it had a positive message and it invoked emotions within me. Great job!

In my opinion, while this is written in a contemporary style, and I prefer a more poetic form, I found the message distinct and convincing - the rhyme was somewhat masked in the presentation, but it was there and the write was lyrical in its rhythm...

These are good tips for writers with a happy theme.
However, life is not always peaches and cream.
And, some times one needs to write well about the bad station.
The reception of a piece of writing is all in the presentation.
Did enjoy this poem no doubt.
Good rhymes used throughout.

Hello HG, a poem of truth. Your poem made me smile, and I could relate to it. Personally, when it comes to poetry, I'm a PG13 person. Anything that is written with vulgar language, violence, etc., I usually skip. However, poems written in truth (e.g. child abuse, etc.), I will read because we all need to recognize the devil when we see him and warn others of such dangers. Of special note:
Now if that story is truly ugly and mean, perhaps it would really be better unseen. And if it is littered with angry swear words, it's quite likely to not even be for the birds! So please begin with a thought to consider if your heart's intention is joyful or bitter. For the angry writer seldom gains pity as their messages generally are not very pretty.
(Perhaps it would be better to write about the lesson learned, etc. vs. the anger within? It's all a matter of perspective.)

Those blessed with the gift of communicating through the written word really owe a debt to do it as well as they possibly can. It does not take much skill if any at all to write angry, negative thoughts laden with profanity. If you want to communicate with your target audience, you must practice using words that appeal and express your thoughts in such a way that they agree with everything you say until the end where you bash them over the head with your indictment of their hateful and ignorant ways.
