This is a great country song. You have a strong beat and a steady rhythm that is smooth and I can hear music clearly when I read your poem. I love the analogy to cornbread without butter, so creative and unique and fits a country song.

Yes, Mermaid, many reviewers remarked that they can hear the rhythm when they read my lyrics. Thank you for your review and compliments.

Yes, Mermaids, when I perform my song, I can hear the music of my invisible band consisting of guitars, fiddle, piano, and drums. After my song won FanStory Poem of the Month, I rushed to memorize it to perform at the San Francisco Free Folk Festival two days later. Here is the video. Thank you for your support.

This is a great song! I think I found the right melody and sang the whole thing! I agree cornbread is nothing without butter! What a great analogy, life without love-cornbread without butter. Sounds right to me! Couldn't have said it better myself!
Now I'm craving cornbread, thanks a lot. ;) Thanks for sharing.

Yes, Boogienights, many reviewers have craved cornbread and sang this melody after reading my song. Glad you loved the analogy. Thank you for your delicious six star review.

Great lyric. Wish I could hear the melody and rhythm. Too bad you can't record it. I don't know how to do that, but Dean does. Maybe you could ask him?

Oh, thank you, Phyllis, for your generous review. I am submitting these lyrics to a couple of songwriting contests where I could win studio time with a band to make a demo.

Yes Andre, it is much like a country western song. Rhymes well and has the right motif. Your analogy is good too. But in your poem/song, why did this lady leave? I know this is a creative work, but you seem like such a nice guy, why would the lady leave? Best wishes.

Ha, Victor, the clue as to why the lady left is in the line "I sure made a mistake in your sis' Easy-Bake." The man had an affair with his wife's younger sister. The song is purely fictional. Thank you for your revieww.

I was just curious. A story/poem/ song comes from somewhere. Infidelity isn't new, it's just most likely being stupid. Thank you responding and best wishes.

Hi Andre, what wonderful song lyrics resulted from that conversation where you talked for cross purposes. I really liked it. Such great lyrics for a Country Western song. Have you got the music as well? All the best. Ulla:)))

Oh, thank you, Ulla, for your glowing review. I'm glad that miscommunication resulted in this song. No, I don't have music yet, but I'm entering my song into two songwriting contest where I could win studio time and musicians to create a demo. Thanks.

Wow, that is exciting. I hope you'll be among the winners. It really has great lyrics. Good luck. :)

Ulla, I just bought my first guitar yesterday and signed up for lessons to help with my composing and to allow me to perform.

I love this and agree that it would make great lyrics for a song. In fact, I caught myself singing the words as I read the poem. I love the analogy between the cornbread and butter and the relationship. Very nicely done!

Thank you, Ava, for your delicious review of my song analogy about relationships. Yes, I find myself singing this song all of the time myself. I kept it simple and most of it is "sung" with a talking voice instead of a singing voice. Thanks again.

This is a very cute poem about the corn bread and butter. I love both of those things a lot. You used very good words and I love the art work. Made me hungry for corn bread and butter at 8 in the morning! Good job! Blessings, Teri

This could almost be a love song about a couple from the South. It uses cornbread and butter as a metaphor of how well they were together before he made the mistake that broke them up. It sounds as if he cheated on her with her sister.
How horrible.

Keep writing

Joan

The picture looks delicious by the way. The picture really complimented the poem that is exceptionally well written with lots and lots of imagery. The reader really enjoyed and read it twice.

Oh, thank you, Harry, for your delcious review. I wrote the song first in a day, and then I found a picture. I almost never base a song or poem on a picture unless I had photographed it myself. Thanks again.

Don't worry, Andre, my friend.
You'll get used to being alone after awhile.
In fact, you might even grow to like it, as I have.
I don't mind being alone, but I sure do hate being lonely.
Cute poem, very well penned.
