This is a great poem to & about your granddaughter Linda. I enjoyed reading it very much. Good job on expressing your feelings. Readers easily see your love & admiration for Grace--what a beautiful name. Awesome picture, too. Thanks for sharing. Jan

What a beautiful granddaughter and certainly God-loving like her grandfather. It is good that you shared your family to the readers for this tell us that love begins at home first and then shared to the humanity next. Thanks for another inspiring piece.

Well I've never met her and never will. That being said. How completely cool is she. I used to live in Aurora... small world. She is something else and sounds fully baked. Sending love. xo yours, di

Such a lovely tribute to your granddaughter.. from the glimpse of her story that you shared with us, I can certainly see why you would be proud of her.. and winning the 'Unarmed Marching Exhibition" -- Your love and pride is almost palatable. I gave four stars mainly because I felt this seemed more like conversation prose than poetry -- not to diminish the essence or importance of your message in any way, but just a commentary on the style of writing.. please know, that my input is meant to be supportive and hopefully insightful, not hurtful.. and Congratulations to your grand-daughter... and even though she marches in a group, I somehow intuit that she may also march to the beat of a different drum..

Air, we are like a family on here...we tell of weddings...deaths...operations...and anything else we feel we would like to share...with no rhythm and no rhyme...just free verse...we are FRIENNNNDS...there was nothing in this poem written wrong...nothing to correct...that's where a four star comes in...and please...I post when someone needs prayers...when someone passes away...and when someone is hurting...and they are not written in rhyme or in rhythm ...just feelings from the heart...many on here do that...just words...sometimes that's all that's needed...so best not to review me next time around...thank you...

You can definitely feel the sense of pride and love for your granddaughter, it's nice when one can be a witness to such devotion and love, it makes you think there is still good left.

The first part of this poem is a piece of grandma's free verse then we get the newsflash before returning to the free verse at the end. From pride comes poetry. It must be a relief to know she has an ambition, and a highly laudable one at that. The red hair made it easy to recognise her in the picture.

In the first [row] One nit
You have every reason to be proud Linda. It is a wonderful thing to watch our Grandchildren grow up. We just did Prom night with my 16 year old Great grand daughter and her brother is writing and recording his own music at a local studio. Life is good when you can smile! LOL Nancy

Aww, Linda, I can see why you are so proud of your granddaughter, to have won the competition and for the very first time! WOW!!! I spotted the red hair straight away. Where does she get that from?
What a fantastic career she has chosen! That must be an absolute dream job. I wish her every success, which from what you have told us about her, I'm sure she will!
My eldest granddaughter is 17 and a half. She is studying to be an accountant. They do grow up fast, my friend, too fast. Every year they age, I age two! Big hugs, my dear friend. Love you lots. xxxxxxx
