A very well-written poem from an old soldier telling the story of a soldier for us to understand what our soldiers are going through to protect us from harm. There are still too many people not willing to respect soldiers.

Thank you Sandra. Sad to say that is true. Most of them have never seen war and that's because of those defenders of their freedom.

Good morning, Poetwatch
Enjoyed the poem. Virtual six. Very powerful message and image of a soldier who has seen one too many fights and too much death and destruction that scars his mind and soul. Well done.
Take care and stay safe,
Ray

Nice I really like the last part about the scars and haven been forgotten. It's too true and real.
I listen to may co workers sometimes and realize they haven't got a clue.
Their freedom is secured by what the old solider has done,
And what the new soldier must do.
From one to another, "Hooah!"

I came from overseas seeing hate from those we protected. They were ignorant to the fact that, "Their freedom is secured by what the old solider has done, and what the new soldier must do." I love your lines.
Comment from Mary Hollingsworth
Writer how very well written about the soldier who's won many battles but still yet has to conquer that battle that's in his mind and that one is not easily won. Although he stands tall and courageous in Statue in the physical but in the mental world he's always the victim

The tenacity to carryon and keep fighting is inherent in us all and when we have seen the terrible scenes that a soldier has seen, then life becomes one long battle I suspect, a unique write, love Dolly x

Dolly, thank you for your kind words. Yes, it's a long battle and the last one is with death.

I really like the picture selection for this excellently written poem that is loaded with imagery and emotions. The reader is a retired military guy so he really could relate to the poem.

Hello, cool poem. I enjoyed reading it, and the sentiment is very determined ... and I wonder what the last battle is? Will you win or lose? I think critical questions can be very powerful in both poetry and prose.
I saw no errors and the picture sets the mood for the poem very effectively. Thanks for sharing your talent, Ana :)

Thank you Ana. I'm glad you liked it. The last battle is one we will all face. Which direction we go is whether we win or lose.

This speaks an old soldier has fought many battles and killed most of enemies and still stands tall but wish to fight one more battle, win or lose, let us see; well written, well done. Keep Writing -- DR ALCREATOR
