Great opening nonet Mike - hope begins all journeys - great opening. In the free verse you've let your imagination flow on the waves of the sea, and the volcano on a jolly good trip to become the wonderful poet you are. Congrats on the well deserved win.
cheers.

    Hi, Valda

Wow, that's so nice to hear, you're too kind. I'm not too active and I'm terrible about reviewing and responding. But I still read my favourites, like YOU, and I'm around. Thanks a million, mike :))

Great job really enjoyed this tale of your journey! Been away but glad to see you are still here with me so many have left me and moved on! I will be popping in here here and there had so much to do here with hubbys illness and having to move. It was a it overwhelming for me to process. It is still hard for me to cope some days knowing my love of 53 will be getting worse.

Glorious writing and love that style. Great prompt for sure, lets one just go journeying down the page. Nice work and good luck in the contest. Much enjoyed that free verse section as you write with a sound that feels like rhyme. Lovely.

Deserving of a sixth star, this piece feels like a piece from Homer's legacy, and yet totally new. What a challenge to combine all three styles into coherency, without skipping a beat! ha ha! I particularly enjoyed the beginning and the end...that's not to say that the entire journey wasn't utopia! Well done.

A very well-written multi-form poem. We are all on one or other journey in our lives, there are many things we can learn on that journey and we have to go through many obstacles to reach our goal.

Wow, Mav this is a fantastic entry into the multi-form contest. Your nonet opener is perfectly shaped and starts of this cornucopia of poetic wisdom with hope. What better thing to have at the apex than hope?

It seamlessly segues into a vision, riding an orca, what could be more inspiring than traveling through the sea on a fish.

The mythical journey of a lifetime in an original journey through the doors of perception.

And all concluded with a sage fiveseventyfive. Yes, making money for the poet making machinery.

This is fantastic and I do wish I had a sixth star because it most deserving.

Best wishes to you in the contest with this gem.

Well, Michael, if I had a six it wouldn't be enough - this is simply magnificent, IMHO. The fuel = dreams, the tool = imagination, the result = adventure/escape: that, to me, is art, and a poet described? This poem.

Hello Michael,
You surely are a poet...and then some! I am so pleased you organized this contest. I have never written a multi-form poem, and I found it to be a satisfying challenge...
Your nonet is what drew me in. Even within its form, your love of free verse shines through. Your free verse is a "rollicking good time." What an imagination!
One nit in the free verse: "...then I climbed a volcano...who's (whose) top was..."

I do see the connectedness among the three: traveling to destinations unknown, the tale of your adventure upon the back of an orca whale, and, finally, if you have a coins, toss me a few, for I am a poet... Pretty close?

Your creativity and imagination always make me smile!

I'm liking this contest. Yours is a terrific entry :) I really like that you took your time to give us the full story in free verse. Accompanied by a nonet and 5-7-5 is quite delightful. I'm sure this one is a strong contender.

- "I once (road) the back of an orca whale" - I'm wondering if this should be rode?

Best wishes in the contest.

Ahh, yes, "rode". Good catch. I could've "rowed" the whale though ...

Good to see you, Joy. Been hovering in the background watching and reading your awesome poetry. Great stuff all year. I hope you're feeling better SOON. Thanks for the super review. mike
